Braving sweltering temperatures of over 30°C by the outdoor poolside for this Blue Archive Swimsuit photo shoot, the glare of the sun was almost blinding, yet seeing the glittering ripples across the water instantly brought the summer vacation atmosphere to life. Extensive thought went into this project from preparation to execution—not only to showcase the distinctive features of this swimsuit styling, but also to preserve a collection of sun-drenched imagery for the summer. In practical execution, the intense outdoor sunlight posed a massive challenge. To prevent harsh shadows from falling across my face, we tested virtually every shooting angle around the sun umbrellas that could serve as backdrops. Often, I had to regulate facial expressions amidst glaring reflective light while keeping my eyes looking as relaxed as possible, which was quite a test of ocular endurance.
Regarding the styling, the black halter-neck swimsuit paired with an oversized pink-and-white color-blocked jacket formed a vibrant chromatic contrast. The black swimsuit accentuated the lines of my neck, shoulders, and abdomen, while the half-slipped jacket added a relaxed, languid layering. The white bow and red hair ornament at the head served as the visual focal points of the entire ensemble; although they boosted character recognition, wearing them in such hot outdoor conditions necessitated frequent adjustments to keep them from slipping. To maintain makeup longevity under the heat, the makeup artist kept a watchful eye on my face throughout, stepping in immediately after every set to touch up makeup and refine details—ensuring the wig’s volume and strand flow never appeared disheveled before the lens.
In terms of posing, I explored diverse postures to harmonize with the poolside setting. When kneeling on the lounge chair and glancing back toward the camera, relaxing the shoulders and neck while subtly engaging the back muscles was essential to carve out a natural spinal curve. Sitting cross-legged facing forward on the lounger, on the other hand, required keeping my back straight and tightening the core to sustain overall posture. The greatest test of core strength was the pose with one leg raised; to convey a sense of elongated leg lines without looking stiff, I spent a long time fine-tuning the arch of my instep and my center of gravity. Whether pointing the toes or flexing slightly, the height of the lifted thigh, or even the subtle lean of the torso—the slightest deviation would compromise the visual impact. Direct sunlight on bare skin offered gorgeous lighting textures, yet also exposed every contour of the legs and arms, requiring constant reapplication of sunscreen and body tone-up cream between takes to ensure an even complexion.
The jacket's fabric cast a delicate sheen under the sunlight, harmonizing with the water reflections to keep the overall tonal palette exceptionally clear and translucent. At times, to capture splashing water droplets or harness mirror-like pool reflections, I tried seated poses close to the pool's edge, letting my toes graze the water to infuse dynamic coolness into the static photographs. Though the blazing sun was exhausting and sweat repeatedly drenched my back, the moment the camera pointed my way, I instinctively straightened up to deliver my most energetic presence.
This outdoor Pool photoshoot reaffirmed that a Swimsuit photo session is not merely a showcase of wardrobe and styling, but a comprehensive test of lighting control, environmental adaptation, and physical discipline. Completing such a set under bright, sunny skies—fusing summer languor, crisp coolness, and expressive character presence—was a profoundly fulfilling journey that made me cherish creating art amidst a summer vacation ambiance all the more.
