The key focus when shooting this Kafū Chino cosplay look was the texture and color fidelity of the costume. This outfit is Chino's classic school Uniform from Is the Order a Rabbit?, with a highlighted yellow knit cardigan layered on top. The material of this cardigan sweater is soft yet holds enough thickness, nicely accentuating the silhouette. For the single-leg raised peace-sign pose in Photo 4, the breeze fluttered the skirt hem, creating a wonderful visual absolute territory between the White stockings and skirt hem—one of my most satisfying shots from this set.
The light blue long hair is the soul of this ensemble; because of its length, grooming took considerable time. I combed through the wig in advance to prevent tangling, paying special attention to the ahoge on the crown, using setting spray to maintain its proper curve. Aligning the black cross hair clips symmetrically on both sides also took patience to prevent an unkempt look. While the style inherently leans toward sweet and refreshing, during shooting I experimented with slightly expressive poses—such as making heart gestures with both hands or slipping hands into the cardigan pockets for a side-profile shot—aiming to capture Chino's contrast between her usual introverted nature and her sweet cuteness in comfortable surroundings.
Lighting utilized bright, diffused soft light, allowing the yellow cardigan and white pleated skirt to display their soft textures while keeping the frame luminous and crisp without feeling drab. Black Mary Jane shoes paired with long White stockings create a quintessential Japanese schoolgirl look; the footwear materials were gentle and comfortable even during extended wear, facilitating various poses. Gestures like hands clasped together, hands on hips, or sitting on the rug resting the chin in hand—combined with dynamic wig flow—made the composition feel lively rather than rigid. Though shot in a simple indoor setting, exploring various angles and body contours lent the set a warm, natural everyday aesthetic.
I chose to present this original costume without heavy post-processing visual effects, wanting to preserve authentic fabric creases and knit textures to stay true to the character's everyday life. The most challenging aspect during the shoot was balancing dynamic actions—such as keeping hands steady when making heart gestures or stabilizing the center of gravity during single-leg standing poses to prevent wobbling. Between takes, I adjusted the ribbon tie to ensure the blue streamer draped straight down the chest. I am very satisfied with the colors and postures in the final photos, capturing both the serene 2D beauty and playful liveliness of the character.
