[Reimu cosplay] [Miao Luo cosplay] Chengdu Worldline: Dual-Character Deployment

Chengdu Worldline ACG Expo has concluded today, and while my memories are still fresh, I'm quickly documenting this dual-character convention record and my reflections. This time I prepared two completely distinct outfits: Touhou Project Reimu cosplay for Day 2, and JX3 Miao Luo cosplay for Day 3. Bringing dual roles to a single convention is always an intense physical test and a race against the clock for changing gear, especially in such crowded halls.

Let's start with Day 2's Reimu. The classic red-and-white miko dress is strikingly eye-catching; the oversized red-and-white ribbon bow on the head is truly the soul of the look, and I tied delicate white lace ribbons through the hair as well. To harmonize with the overall aesthetic, I deliberately wore lace-trimmed White stockings paired with red-accented black platform shoes. The skirt has rich dimensionality—a red outer miniskirt layered over a longer white lace underskirt, fluttering gracefully with every step, which translated gorgeously on camera. The only hiccup was Chengdu's weather: even in autumn, sprinting around the convention hall left me running quite hot, but all that exhaustion meant nothing compared to getting stunning shots.

Then came Day 3's Miao Luo. To make moving and shooting easier, I left off the second sleeve and the secondary blade this time. JX3 Miao Luo's costume features intricate tiers of lace and ruffles, where the white-and-gold palette appears exquisitely ornate. Headwear paired fiery long crimson curls with anime-styled eye makeup, and holding that dramatic, oversized signature prop blade made an intense visual impact. Posing in a mask is a true test of physical performance: because facial expressions are concealed, body language must carry the weight of the character's temperament. I adjusted my stance, holding the blade in one hand while resting the other over my chest to channel her nimble, spirited agility.

The convention theme was 'Worldline', and I met so many Touhou and JX3 fans! Everyone was unbelievably warm and welcoming. I brought an assortment of freebie goods hanging from my gear waiting for people to hunt me down for loot... Seeing fellow fans recognize my characters and enthusiastically trade goodies brings an irreplaceable kind of joy. That's the beauty of conventions—everyone runs on pure passion.

As for photography, mirror selfies are a genuine art form. Covering your face with a phone is convenient, but you sometimes miss out on showcasing beautiful makeup. So for Day 3, I explored diverse framing, utilizing the prop and footwork to build spatial layers. Lighting inside convention halls is chaotic, making finding the right specular catchlights or a window spot critical. After scouting several angles, I captured two mirror selfies I'm genuinely happy with.

These two ensembles spanned contrasting textures and aesthetics: Reimu was classic and traditional, while Miao Luo was ornate and fantastical. Bringing both characters to life at a single convention was an incredible adventure. While changing was frantic, reviewing the final photos made every effort worthwhile.
