This time I am cosplaying Sandrone's doll custom-concept JK. I've actually been mulling over this idea in my heart for a long time, mainly wanting to retain the character's exquisite, doll-like sense of alienation while blending it into everyday school style. For the costume, I chose a classic brown-toned plaid pleated skirt—this color doesn't look too jarring under night lighting—paired with a pure white shirt. The most eye-catching design is the huge bright yellow bow at the neckline, which can instantly brighten the visual center within the dark-toned frame. For the wig, I picked a style with a flaxen-gold texture, keeping long sideburns on both sides and wearing a white lace headband on my head, instantly bringing out that exquisite feel. The lower body is paired with White stockings and garter belts, along with vintage brown chunky-heeled Mary Jane shoes, stretching the overall proportions significantly.
The shooting location was chosen as Shanxi Road Bridge; the cold wind on the overpass at night blew fiercely, and after every shot, I had to quickly wrap up in a coat, but as soon as I stood in front of the lens, I had to immediately recapture the character's light, airy state. The night view lighting environment here was originally yellowish, so in post-processing, some color grading was done to remove excess yellow light, shifting the frame more toward a cool urban blues look. The shooting equipment brought this time was the A7R6, paired with the 85mm GM II and 35mm GM. When shooting half-body close-ups at the 85mm end, the large aperture turned all the traffic lights in the background into rounded bokeh light spots, maximizing the atmospheric vibe; the 35mm end well conveyed the oppressive feel of the overpass and city skyscrapers, giving the frame narrative depth.
To enrich the daily feel of the custom concept, I deliberately brought a vintage camera and a giant teddy bear. In that photo where I'm sitting on a plush carpet leaning against the big bear and reading, although it looks cozy, my fingers were actually stiff from the cold at that moment. The White stockings and garters in this outfit are definitely the essence of JK uniform, perfectly displaying leg curves whether standing or slightly lifting one leg. Holding the railing by the overpass to look back, or slightly leaning forward to look at the lens, I was striving to capture the balance between that doll-like static beauty and the lively feel of a JK girl.
Maintaining expressions in the cold wind is quite a test, especially keeping the gaze steady and avoiding squinting due to the wind. The photographer's guidance was also crucial; we tried multiple angles on the bridge, utilizing street lamps as the primary light source with very restrained fill light, preserving the deep abyss of the night scene. From conception to realization, every single detail of this photo set underwent repeated deliberation, and I hope these night portraits convey the serene atmosphere under street nightscapes.
