[Grinning Professor Cosplay] Blue Archive's Pure White Backdrop and School Aesthetics

When shooting this set, the most head-aching part was actually the floating halo prop overhead. To make it look suspended naturally, we spent substantial time during preparation securing the center of gravity and fine-tuning angles; even a slight tilt would look fake. We specifically chose a clean, all-white studio backdrop without extraneous colors to highlight the black-and-white uniform and hair color without distracting environmental colors cluttering the overall visual. Paired with classic campus props like school desks, posing with casual and slightly lazy small gestures allowed us to capture the Grinning Professor's calm, composed, and effortless demeanor more accurately.

In terms of styling, an extra-long blonde wig was used this time, which actually demanded considerable effort to groom. We had to ensure front bangs fitted neatly against facial contours while giving long ends a floating, airy fluffiness to avoid looking stiff. The school uniform jacket featured a classic sailor-style design with red contrasting collar accents, paired with a white pleated miniskirt and black opaque pantyhose—instantly bringing out the classic campus feel. I personally adore how black tights reflect under bright studio lights, neatly sculpting leg lines, which led us to try dynamic low-angle leg-raising poses and leaning-forward glance-back shots at the desk edge.

Studio shoots test a model's control over emotions and movements intensely. Because the setting remains pure, you rely almost entirely on gaze and body language to convey character traits. The photographer guided me through various angle attempts throughout the shoot, ranging from low angles for elongated leg lines to eye-level angles capturing subtle brow expressions. Valuing character presence across frames over mere image variations, the final set successfully established the character's unique cool aura.

Regarding post-processing, we added picture-in-picture layout creativity, overlaying a smaller thumbnail onto a full photograph. This prevented compositions from being confined to static single frames, adding design sense and fun as a clever touch to enrich visual layering. For high-difficulty characters, simpler props make mastering the shoot harder since fewer distractions exist, requiring personal expression to fill the frame. This project was a continuation of our earlier New Year fan convention work; seeing such crisp, clean results made every adjustment and effort worthwhile.

As for selection and framing, I favor the glance-back shot at the school desk. That slightly turned posture naturally presents the trajectory of flowing blonde hair while leveraging desk lines to elongate lower-body proportions. Adopting a minimalist style without flashy lighting effects allowed character traits to shine prominently. I hope viewers can feel this character's unique essence through these images.
