While holding a book during the shoot, I was actually trying hard to capture that carefree and self-satisfied expression of Kiryuu Kikyou. The white sailor uniform paired with a dark blue oversized bow tie, along with the collar stitching and overall tailoring, fit the original design quite well. Throwing on that blue coat with white star-shaped patterns instantly made the character highly recognizable. As for the headpiece, the short black wig was layered and trimmed, and the blue-and-white halo above my head showed a certain translucent quality under the soft lighting. Complemented by that pair of fluffy black cat ears, the overall completion of the styling is quite commendable. The most fun part during the shoot was actually that long blue rope, which is both an iconic element of the character and the core prop for interaction. At first, because there were many planned movements, the rope got wrapped around my ankles a few times, which turned into a funny little interlude on set. Ultimately, however, the photographer used the interwoven composition of the rope and hand movements to add a touch of agility to the frame. The traditional Japanese studio selected this time was beautifully decorated—wooden sliding doors, tatami flooring, wooden corridors, cherry blossom trees, and warm-toned standing lanterns perfectly set the lazy and relaxed daily atmosphere of a Japanese courtyard. The lighting control leaned toward simulating natural light, with a fairly even overall exposure. Whether it was the white fabric of the sailor uniform, the texture of the white stockings, or the black-and-blue tail fur, the color details captured by the lens were accurately reproduced. Sitting casually on the tatami or curling up cross-legged by the wooden corridor, this relatively relaxed posture fits the character's spontaneous temperament better. Although I had to stay mindful of the tail's position during the shoot to keep it from collapsing, my state throughout the set remained relaxed and natural. The final image has bright tones, and the atmosphere came out quite nicely for this Anime-style photography session.
