[Hayase Yuuka cosplay] Blue Archive gymnastics uniform classroom scene record

This time I shot the gymnastics uniform version of Hayase Yuuka from Blue Archive. After deciding to do this styling, the first thing was to hunt for a suitable wig. Purple long straight hair easily looks dry under light, so I chose a matte-textured high-temperature fiber. When trimming, I deliberately kept the layering of the sideburns to make the face-framing effect more natural. The iconic halo prop on top of the head is made using a transparent acrylic ring plus a blue LED strip. To ensure it wouldn't fall off during the shoot, magnets and invisible hairpins were hidden inside, and once fixed, the head can basically be turned freely.

In terms of clothing, I chose a dark blue short-sleeve top and athletic shorts with white stripes on the sides, paired with white mid-calf socks and black high-top sneakers. Although it looks like a very basic gymnastics uniform, actual wearing requires attention to the waist-cinching effect of the top and the cut of the shorts; they must fit the body curves so they don't look baggy. The shooting scene was selected as a studio with a pure white background, and the prop team brought in a set of old school desks and chairs. The tabletop is light wood-colored, and the metal frame has slight wear, which just fits the authentic vibe in a campus.

A lot of thought was put into the action design. One of the most classic poses is kneeling half-way on the school desk and chair, leaning the body backward, and turning the head to look at the lens. This action has relatively high requirements for waist and core strength because it requires maintaining body balance while allowing the leg lines to fully stretch out. To showcase the athletic feel of the gymnastics uniform, I stretched my left leg backward and stepped on the chair, with my right foot on the desk and knees slightly bent, so that from the side view it forms a highly tense triangular composition. That printed photo placed by the leg was meant for visual echoing, recording the moment from another perspective together.

During the shooting process, the photographer specially used a telephoto lens to compress the background, making the visual focus completely concentrated on the person. Although the white background is simple, lighting needs to be very deliberate. To avoid heavy facial shadows, a softbox was used for the main light, and a reflector was used for side fill light, so that the skin texture comes out relatively translucent, and the purple color of the wig can also restore bright colors. That bottle of water on the desktop was actually not a staging prop; it was casually left there during a break between shots, and finding out in the end that placing it in the frame actually added a kind of everyday campus feel, I didn't deliberately take it away.

The entire shoot lasted for about three hours, and kneeling on the desk to repeatedly adjust poses was indeed quite tough on the knees, but seeing the finished photos made it feel totally worth it. The gymnastics uniform version of the character Hayase Yuuka has many details to explore, such as the lacing method of the sneakers, the curve of the shorts' edge, and the slightly inclined angle of the halo, all of which determine whether the final frame allows viewers to recognize the character at a glance. I hope this set of pictures can convey the character's calm yet youthfully energetic traits.
