[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] Blue Archive's Kitty Ojisan

Today I'm sharing this finished cosplay photoshoot of Takanashi Hoshino. When I first decided to cosplay this character, I was utterly captivated by the endearing gap between her self-proclaimed 'Ojisan' (old man) persona and her natural, sleepy cuteness. To recreate that vibe, I poured substantial effort into the wardrobe and hair styling. The wig was chosen in a soft peach-pink shade and cut into twin tails, while the cat-ear headband was reinforced to ensure the ears stood upright steadily during the shoot. The outfit features an oversized pure white off-the-shoulder top, worn with one side pulled down to expose the collarbone—this casual, languid drape perfectly captures her nonchalant Ojisan demeanor. A red choker adorned with a tiny jingle bell wrapped around my neck, and the plush pink cat tail pinned behind was an absolute must.

On the bottom, I wore pure white over-the-knee stockings. The White stockings smoothed out the leg lines visually while harmonizing seamlessly with the soft, pastel pink-and-white palette. Heterochromatic contact lenses—one ocean blue and one amber gold—were the defining focal point of the makeup; wearing two different lens colors always requires extra time to calibrate gaze direction and camera angles. The floating pink halo prop hovering overhead was handcrafted using thin wire and acrylic sheeting; although dodging the support rod during framing was a recurring chore, the resulting visual was wonderfully authentic to 2D anime aesthetics.

The shoot was staged in a traditional Japanese-style room lined with tatami mats. Huge thanks to photographer Rin, who excelled at working with natural ambient daylight. The room was rich with cozy, lived-in details: plaid floor cushions, wooden bookshelves, and several oversized plush teddy bears, all imbuing the scene with tender warmth. In Photo 1, I lay on my side across the tatami hugging a white pillow, while Photo 2 features me seated on a round cushion facing the camera. Lying down without crushing the twin tails while keeping a relaxed expression actually required constant core engagement, leaving my lower back quite sore by wrap time.

Throughout the session, I continuously sought that sweet spot between an old man's slouchy nonchalance and a kitten's affectionate clinginess—languid and relaxed, yet with innocence and playful charm gleaming in the eyes. Because the interior daylight was gentle, we avoided harsh strobes, relying primarily on diffused window light paired with white bounce cards to lift facial shadows, ensuring translucent, natural skin textures. In Photo 2, as I casually reached up to touch the floating halo prop, Rin seized that fleeting, unscripted moment.

The entire shoot was an absolute joy, and Rin consistently nailed the exact second I looked my best. I hope that when browsing these photos, everyone can feel this effortless, laid-back cuteness.
