The Convention photos from this event have finally been edited! The character cosplayed is Cyrene Cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail. Preparations for this outfit actually began late last year, with ongoing adjustments to various details along the way. First was the wig color—I tested samples from three or four makers before settling on this dusty muted-pink base wig. I trimmed the bangs myself and spent significant time styling the sideburn curves to contour my face naturally. For the elf ears prop, I purchased ready-made pieces, but the edges were slightly rough and irritated my skin, which was solved comfortably by applying skin-toned protective tape.
In terms of makeup, to capture the character's gentle yet subtly detached aura, I laid down a generous wash of pale pink eyeshadow layered with soft purple tones. The eyeliner was elongated with a gentle downward droop, harmonizing with violet-blue contact lenses to evoke as much tender warmth as possible. For lips, I selected a dewy peach tint; the overall makeup leaned subtle, with blush applied slightly heavier than usual to keep my complexion vibrant under harsh outdoor lighting. The silver-white embossed motifs and metallic accents on the dress felt wonderfully textured, though putting it on was quite an ordeal requiring assistance to secure everything at the back.
The outdoor weather at the convention was relatively cooperative, albeit rather windy. While the starry-sky gradient trailing skirt fluttered ethereal and airy, it constantly wrapped around my legs, requiring the photographer to repeatedly help smooth down the hem. The longbow prop was quite lightweight, meaning I had to engage my own muscles to make drawing the bow look natural and taut, while holding the grimoire magic book prop required careful wrist angling to evoke effortless spellcasting. To freeze the exact moments the skirt fluttered upward, I repeatedly lifted the hem and twirled while controlling my facial expressions, which was physically demanding.
The mini-skirt paired with an elongated train is visually striking but restricts mobility; crouching or taking large strides required extra caution. I wore protective bloomers underneath. The patterned White stockings were quite prone to snagging, needing to be rolled up millimeter by millimeter when putting them on, and I had to skirt around rough pavement while walking. The shoot lasted around two hours, moving from the open plaza to glass curtain walls and staircase areas. My personal favorites are the sequences lifting the skirt into a turn and drawing the bow—though there were plenty of outtakes, the successful candid frames are brimming with visual drama.
Such multi-tiered voluminous gowns carry noticeable physical weight in reality, making walking a workout, yet seeing the visual results made every inconvenience worthwhile. The overall styling achieved a high degree of completion; although the wig tangled slightly in the wind, its texture held up beautifully under the lighting. I rarely cosplay such soft, pinkish pastel characters, so this attempt felt like a wonderful stylistic breakthrough. Wrapping up with sore muscles and blistered feet, previewing those gorgeous captures on camera left me in wonderfully relaxed spirits.
