Dageze Mountain - Longre Road, at an elevation of 4,200 meters. This was the final destination of our Western Sichuan travel photography expedition.

While planning the itinerary before departure, I anticipated that this stop would be the most grueling, but actually standing here, the mild dizziness and short breaths of altitude sickness made me truly appreciate the sheer force of plateau photography environments. To accommodate these conditions, my makeup leaned into a light, natural base, though under intense UV exposure and arid mountain gusts, frequent touch-ups were still essential.

This time I portrayed Amiya, and the details across this outfit are exceptionally intricate. The oversized black gradient rabbit ears atop the head carry noticeable heft on their own; paired with the pointed metal hair ornaments at their base, wearing them felt like my neck was under constant strain. To harmonize with this styling, several blue decorative blossoms were pinned into the hair. The white blouse underneath is laden with ruffles and lace pleats, with metallic badges and blue star charms layered across the chest, complemented by chains circling the waist. The silver circular ring pauldron on the right shoulder is solidly rigid, needing precise angle adjustments when gearing up so it wouldn't slip. For the lower half, a deep navy and white asymmetrical skirt is mirrored by an asymmetrical leg arrangement: a black leather knee-high boot on one side, and lace-trimmed White stockings on the other.

Of course, there is also the brown plush rabbit doll dressed in a tiny blue-and-white outfit held in my hands, which I had to cradle continuously between takes to ensure its little cap or miniature accessories wouldn't blow away.

Framing shots along the wooden boardwalk was by far the most challenging task. The plateau wind blew fiercely, sending the expansive, semi-sheer white cape billowing with dramatic visual tension—no forced swooshing required, as it naturally arched into gorgeous lines. Yet the strong gale also posed complications: loose hair and the cape frequently tangled together, requiring the photographer to assist with constant untangling. To maintain compositional stability, I tried walking, gazing into the far distance, and glancing over my shoulder along the timber path; executing just these few sequences drained considerable stamina.

Reaching the meadow at the end of the boardwalk, we found a patch of grassland carpeted with tiny blue wildflowers to rest. The distant green peaks and the azure sky scattered with white clouds created a flawless natural backdrop. Sitting upon the grass, one could keenly feel the scorching warmth of the sun juxtaposed against the crisp, damp chill of the earth. To capture an even more evocative frame, I simply reclined sideways, resting my chin in my hand while watching the sky. In that moment, the overwhelming exhaustion was washed away by the sweeping grandeur of the landscape.

Natural ambient light breathed a true soul into these photographs. Without cumbersome artificial lighting setups, the crystal-clear plateau air rendered colors remarkably saturated. The black, white, and deep navy textiles stood out crisply against the emerald meadow and blue sky. Across this vast expanse, every press of the shutter documented an interwoven tapestry of wind, light, and character presence. Though wrapping up this shoot felt like leaving half my vitality behind on Dageze Mountain, journeying this far out with Amiya was a deeply unforgettable experience. For any future high-altitude outdoor shoots, I will definitely begin aerobic conditioning weeks in advance—after all, in this environment, physical stamina is the ultimate pillar of creative execution.
