[Marin Kitagawa cosplay] Three Days of Extreme Convention Cosplay in Distinct Styles: Maid Outfit Suits Me Best After All

Attending conventions for three consecutive days with huge stylistic leaps each day—looking at the photos, I felt like I had transformed into completely different people. I've organized the main makeup comparisons here, and wanted to share some thoughts from the process.

First, day one's gray-haired look (Luo Tianyi cosplay / Miku) required an ethereal, cool aesthetic. The eye makeup was relatively light, relying primarily on the long straight wig and solid gray-purple contact lenses to establish the atmosphere.

Day two was a challenge with a male character (Taliya), which was the most agonizing look for me. Because my face is naturally round with noticeable baby fat, I had to use heavy contouring to carve out my cheekbones and jawline, drew thick sword brows, and elongated my eyes. Yet looking at the photos, it still screamed "girl dressed as a boy"—completely lacking boyish swagger and instead projecting an odd sense of aging. So I'm planting a flag right here: round faces should definitely pass on male characters; it simply doesn't suit me.

Day three was the main event, returning to my favorite female character, Marin Kitagawa cosplay. One day maid outfit, one day nurse uniform. The maid costume was my personal favorite of the shoot, especially that downward high-angle perspective in photo four, which flattered bust proportions visually; paired with reddish-pink eyeshadow and vivid red lips, it was playful with a dash of sexiness. For makeup, I used large-diameter red lenses and layered glitter over the elongated lower lash line, giving my eyes incredible vivacity.

As for Madoka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, the pink styling was soft all over, emphasizing rounded eyes and blush—an entirely different aura from Marin, creating great gap moe.

Finally, photo nine's close-up: our convention's most viral "Magical Contract Colored Contact Lens Showcase," where the four of us huddled together for a downward face close-up, cycling through different colored contacts. We nearly snapped our necks trying to align with the camera! Though everyone joked about the "Hey bro, wake up" meme, goofy moments like this are far more delightful than rigid selfies.

Although three days of conventions were exhausting, experiencing three completely different lives in one breath and Taking photos with cosplayers at conventions for fun interactions was immensely therapeutic. Seeing fellow cosplayers come up with hilarious memes added endless fun to the journey. Moving forward, sticking to female roles definitely suits me better, and this serves as a wonderful memento in my convention diary.

A few details on the makeup: Marin's look centers on eyeshadow gradations and dramatic lash lifts, paired with fair, cool-toned foundation and red lips to shape a slim V-line jaw. Conversely, Madoka demands innocence—straight eyeliner with a natural droop, paired with light-toned contacts. Changing the visual focus of the eyes truly breathes a completely distinct soul into each character.

Regarding the crossplay attempt as a boy, makeup initially seemed smooth and I felt quite dashing, but trying on the costume for test shots revealed that a wide face and baby fat couldn't be hidden, making any expression look stiff.
