This Sailor suit Swimsuit Anime cosplay features Marin Kitagawa's look, shot on-site at the anime convention. The entire shoot took about forty minutes, mostly spent finding suitable angles in the open area outside the venue. The convention was crowded and the background was chaotic, but fortunately, the photographer brought a circular reflector for me to kneel directly on. This not only relieved the hardness of the ground, but the reflection also provided fill light, making my legs look very fair. The outfit combines a Sailor suit with a Swimsuit, featuring white shorts on the bottom that allow for easy movement. However, because I was barefoot, kneeling on the concrete really hurt my knees. To nail the looking-back pose in the second photo, I turned my head while kneeling with all my weight shifted onto my legs, repeating the shot nearly a dozen times to achieve the most natural feel. Regarding hair and makeup, the pink wig was specially washed with shampoo and restyled the day before, and I spent a long time trimming the bangs and sideburns to keep them neat. I wore large-diameter circle lenses, drew relatively thick eyeliner, and applied dedicated under-eye highlights to closely match the character's eye makeup. Because the venue had harsh overhead lighting with heavy shadows, post-processing mainly suppressed highlights and lifted the dark tones while preserving skin texture. In the first photo, placing my finger against my cheek gave off a cute Anime cosplay feel, but by comparison, the looking-back composition in the second photo was much better, showcasing the curve of my back and creating longer leg lines, which made it far more striking as a cover image. Furthermore, because of the crowds, the first photo captured passersby and other photographers' lights in the background, making it look cluttered; therefore, I prioritized the cleaner shot. Special thanks go to the photographer for their patient direction in capturing these natural moments in such a noisy setting. These Convention photos were mainly about experimenting with light in different environments. While studio shoots are easier since you do not have to worry about lighting, Convention photos deliver an authentic atmosphere and a shared connection with fellow attendees, making the results feel much more vivid. The Sailor suit Swimsuit styling involves many details, including the chest bow and collar pleats, all of which need careful adjustment to look their best. It was very hot that day; while the indoor halls were heavily air-conditioned, the sun outside was blazing. To find flattering light, we headed around to a parking area beside the hall where the ground was hard concrete. Standing for a long time made the soles of my feet heat up, and kneeling forced my entire body weight onto my knees. The aluminum reflector wasn't soft at all, and kneeling on it for so long left red marks on my knees. At first, the photographer had me straighten my posture while kneeling, but noticed it made my legs look shorter, so they had me shift my center of gravity back and lean slightly forward while looking back, which framed the leg lines much better. With no props besides my own hair, I relied on hand gestures to balance the frame—such as touching my cheek in the first shot and running my hand through my hair while looking back in the second. These were spontaneous ideas aimed at projecting a relaxed, effortless mood. For my makeup, I used a long-lasting foundation to prevent sweat from breaking it down, and applied plenty of setting powder since outdoor shoots easily cause shine. The pink wig was tricky to manage due to its length, as it could tangle with the slightest movement, so I thoroughly applied detangling spray before leaving. The venue was quite loud, with many onlookers watching and taking photos on their phones. While slightly awkward, I am used to it as a cosplayer, and I managed to keep my focus and facial expressions on point. Passersby kept walking across the camera's view, so the photographer had to wait patiently for those brief moments when the background cleared up. Looking back at these two photos, I was actually feeling somewhat tired at the time, but the final outcome is truly satisfying, successfully conveying both the crisp freshness of the Sailor suit and the playful charm of the Swimsuit.
