For this Honkai Impact 3rd Seele Herrscher of Rebirth 'Dwelling in Eternal Night' cosplay photoshoot, I actually have quite a few details from the makeup process to the final shoot that I'd love to share with you all. Not only because the outfit itself is highly complex, but also because we faced some practical limitations with the props and set design, which we ultimately resolved through the collaboration of our post-processing and photographer to achieve a unique night-themed atmosphere.

First, for the makeup and styling, my makeup artist Lao Shuang was incredibly meticulous with the base. Since Seele's wig transitions from deep blue to purple-black and features thick bangs, the eye makeup needed to be exceptionally clean and sharp. We used bright blue contacts to highlight my eyes, preventing my facial features from being washed out by the dark wig. For the post-processing, I intentionally requested a cold-toned grading to maximize the deep blue atmosphere, which beautifully captures the quiet, nocturnal vibe implied by 'Dwelling in Eternal Night.'

The outfit was definitely the centerpiece of this shoot. Merging a glossy black bodice with a blue multi-layered skirt, and accented with golden butterfly bows at the chest and waist, it offers incredibly rich visual layers. The black lace headpiece actually required a lot of skill to secure due to its intricate structure. Along with the black tights, golden leg straps, and wrist guards, the entire ensemble reflects light beautifully under the studio setup. However, as mentioned in my post, because this original dress set from Uwowo was so difficult, we weren't able to complete the wings and skeletal frame parts of the prop, which was a bit of a shame. Fortunately, we compensated for the visual weight by custom-ordering this massive scythe from the prop-making studio Hengjiang Workshop, and we adjusted my sitting and crouching angles to keep the silhouette of the dress looking its best.

The shooting process wouldn't have been possible without the help of our photographer and assistants. The photographer from Dexian Image was amazing at capturing the perfect angles. To bypass the empty space left by the missing wings, we arranged a lot of compositions featuring sitting, half-squatting, and holding the weapon. Set against a backdrop of blue-and-white flowers and Roman columns, the reflection on the mirrored floor helped immensely, adding a wonderful sense of layered, dreamy space.

In post-processing, Shenmi Ludi Xiaoren did a fantastic job with the color accuracy of the cold tones, smoothing out any distracting reflections or fabric creases caused by my movements. Even though we missed some canon design elements, we still brought to life an image akin to a dark rose in the night using the available costume, props, and lighting.

Cosplaying in outfits with such massive props is always a physical challenge, so I'm incredibly grateful to my assistants for helping me lift and move things around, which kept the shoot running smoothly. This cosplay photoshoot was not only about portraying a character but also a great team creative experience. The adjustments we made due to prop limitations actually gave the images a very unique texture, and I hope to try more creative problem-solving like this in future shoots.
