[Firtho Cosplay] Secret realm of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, the devil girl in a vintage study

Pushing open the doors of that dust-laden library feels like stepping completely into the fantasy realm of Touhou Project.

This time, I'm cosplaying Flandre Scarlet, not only recreating the red-and-white dress in terms of styling, but also putting a lot of thought into the scene and props. We specifically selected a vintage study filled with dark solid wood bookshelves as our location, where warm yellow candlelight and subtly reddish ambient lighting perfectly match Flandre's unique aura—both expressive and tinged with loneliness.

The red-and-white color-blocked dress I wore features abundant ruffle designs on the skirt hem and sleeves, paired with her iconic white mob cap, red bow, white calf socks, and red platform shoes. Visually, it carries the sweet charm of Lolita fashion while echoing the main color palette set in Touhou Project. Sitting on a deep brown leather sofa holding a small white teacup, as my posture relaxed, I felt as though I truly became that girl living in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, accustomed to her own unique rhythm.

In another set, a yellowed parchment map was spread in front of me, flanked by stacks of thick hardcover books, with a skull model and a gleaming golden key scattered on the right. Holding a white feather quill, resting my chin on my hand in thought, as the light hit my blonde hair amid the black book spines, a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere was created.

This shoot was quite a test of skill, as such dim light environments heavily challenge the usage of reflectors. Big thanks to photographer @酸酸的话梅 on site for patiently helping me adjust poses and gazes throughout, allowing me to present her subtle tsundere nature and sense of mystery more naturally in front of the camera. To restore this immersion, I maintained character posture and expressions almost the entire time, even confirming the subtle curvature of my fingers holding the feather quill repeatedly with the photographer.

In the past, everyone may have seen Flandre Scarlet mostly in outdoor settings or fantasy environments, but this time we took the opposite approach, using a realistic, classic Vintage portrait style in a study to interpret her, sparking a uniquely fresh feel instead. Particularly in the photo sitting casually with crossed legs on the sofa, paired with white socks and shoes, the proportions of the outfit and character demeanor came together just right.

Whether earnestly writing and contemplating or watching the world holding a cup of black tea, the character Flandre Scarlet always allows me to experience a romance drifting on the edge between reality and fantasy during the cosplay process. Finishing this shoot and watching the playback in the camera, I felt like I truly spent a quiet afternoon in the library of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
