[Hatsune Miku cosplay] Vocaloid: A Cosplay Photoshoot Record From Snowy Fields to Dark Aesthetics

For this Vocaloid Hatsune Miku cosplay photoshoot, we captured a total of four distinct styles. In real life, I'm a graduate student at a university in Wujiaochang, constantly balancing research pressures and endless academic papers. With limited energy, my release schedule rarely hits my goal of once a month. This time, I finally carved out a weekend window to shoot continuously from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Before shooting, I coordinated thoroughly with the photographer regarding framing and lighting direction, preparing every detail in advance.

The first set was an ethereal snow-white dress look. Shooting outdoors in winter easily fogs camera lenses, making thermal covers and defoggers essential. The second set featured a cyberpunk gaming style—seated in a gaming chair holding a controller against cool pinkish-purple lighting, where post-processing focused heavily on mood and ambiance. The third set embraced a dark gothic style with a black dress and trident, shot in a pure black studio setting utilizing hard single-sided rim lighting to accentuate the metallic sheen of chains. The fourth set was a seated pose wearing black stockings against a purple night cherry-blossom backdrop; with centered framing, leg lines were emphasized, and retouching focused on restoring the silky reflection of the black hosiery to create a sleek visual texture—a set I was personally very pleased with. Lastly, we had an extra scene with a white dress and an easel where we recorded some behind-the-scenes moments.

Since I'm a male cosplayer, every makeup and styling session requires significant effort to contour my face shape; even if it looks somewhat different each time, as long as it looks pleasing to me, that's what matters. Being slightly socially anxious, I generally avoid large anime conventions or popular outdoor tourist spots, opting instead to book studios or shoot at friends' homes, enjoying the quiet process of completing a project. I maintain a generous budget for gear, costumes, and props, ensuring fabric texture and prop fidelity meet high standards. In my free time, I enjoy watching anime and playing single-player games—having watched around a hundred classic series, with favorites like Toradora! and Evangelion, and playing games like NieR and FF7. Lately, caught up in academic research, I've stepped back from gacha games, watching gameplay occasionally without active play. Because a Cosplay photoshoot is physically exhausting and I'm gradually becoming a low-energy person, planning poses and framing in advance is crucial to preserve stamina. The styling, atmosphere, and filter grading shown here were meticulously fine-tuned, aiming to achieve the most satisfying result.
