[Cyrene Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: A Romantic Poem Written for You

We chose a lakeside location surrounded by vast patches of pink muhly grass for this photoshoot, intending to use this naturally dreamy foreground to elevate the character's aesthetic portrait and tactile presence. For hair and makeup, the pastel pink short hair paired with white hair accessories served as the defining touch. The outfit featured a blue-and-white skirt and jacket ensemble, complete with golden embroidery and patchwork accents along the cuffs; the overall texture and color harmony shone brilliantly under natural daylight.

The shooting process was a real test of patience. Seeking to convey an airy, otherworldly sensation, we utilized numerous wide-angle low-angle shots. The photo standing on one leg amidst the grass, in particular, not only visually elongated the leg lines but also captured a floating, weightless state within nature. To find the optimal angles, the photographer spent much of the time lying flat on the ground, using grass blades for foreground blur. This perspective made the subject feel much more dynamic, while the strapped sandals and high-waisted skirt design worked in perfect unison.

Weather-wise, the afternoon light shifted rapidly. We began under blazing sunshine shooting wide vistas across the meadow, where harsh patches of sunlight fell on my face, requiring reflector boards for fill light. Later, as the sun dipped toward the lake surface, the cloud hues softened dramatically. The photo holding a lantern by the embankment was captured during that golden hour—the lake's reflections interweaving with the lantern's glow to create an immersive, breathtaking atmosphere.

As a cosplay project, the greatest challenge lay in the interaction between the delicate costume and the natural environment. The outfit's voluminous wide sleeves and skirt hem made movement cumbersome, and approaching the muddy waterline easily risked staining the fabric. Moreover, sitting in the thick grass meant prickly seeds poked at my arms and legs, demanding intense concentration during takes. To enhance visual harmony for the viewer, we intentionally sought out the pink muhly grass, which subtly echoed the soft pink tone of the wig.

To me, bringing a character to life goes beyond superficial garments—it requires channeling that feeling of wandering through a dream. Throughout the shoot, I continually adjusted my expressions, gazing into the distance or offering a gentle, fleeting smile over my shoulder to capture that poetic mood of a 'romantic story born because of you.' Walking through the grass in strapped sandals was admittedly uncomfortable underfoot, but for the sake of visual cohesion, the final frames made every bit of discomfort worthwhile. I especially love the first-person hand-holding shot—with the photographer reaching out toward me, it creates an immersive sense of presence, frozen in that moment of tacit synergy between us.

The finished photos underwent extensive post-processing adjustments in light and shadow, primarily aimed at recreating that twilight ambiance that feels simultaneously cool, serene, and deeply healing. I hope everyone can feel the essence of this character. It was an immensely rewarding outdoor portrait experience, and I look forward to interpreting characters in even better form next time, refining the styling through ever more nuanced lighting and composition. These frames represent my most natural expression.
