Cosplaying Hsin from Wuthering Waves this time, a lot of thought indeed went into polishing the details of this ancient fantasy styling. From receiving the costume onward, I was considering how to merge the 2D anime fantasy feel more naturally with traditional ancient garments. First, I must praise this wig and the beast ears; the large area of silver-white hair needed to be groomed to be extremely smooth, and the fluffy ears on top came with golden patterns and rubies, instantly bringing out that nimble feel once worn. Because it's hair material, extreme care had to be taken during the shoot to prevent static electricity from making the hair fly around. The makeup focused heavily on the eyes, featuring a large area of pink blending, especially at the outer corners and lower eyelids, matched with juicy lip gloss, aiming to recreate that translucent feeling that is both ethereal and bewitching. The red petal imprint and the black diamond-shaped tattoo on the collarbone were small design elements added to introduce a slight contrast, preventing the overall appearance from looking too monotonous and offering more details to admire.
The costume's texture was prominently manifested under the studio lighting. The upper body featured a light-gold metallic luster fabric that presented an exceptionally premium velvet feel when hit by light, paired with dark blue bows and tassels, creating an extremely rich sense of layering. The outer light-blue sheer wide sleeves looked very light and airy when moving, but care had to be taken with their spreading angles during photography to avoid appearing somewhat bulky. For the lower body, I paired it with White stockings dotted with golden lines; this material displayed a slightly sheer effect under the lights, which, matched with white high-heeled sandals, visually elongated the leg lines. The star decorations and strap details on these shoes were also quite sophisticated, and during standing shots, the heel's stability provided immense help. The fine waist straps and the floating cloud prints on the skirt hem also tried to echo the original design as closely as possible, and these patterns stood out particularly well against the dark background.
In terms of pose design during the shoot, I experimented with multiple postures. When sitting on the wooden imperial daybed, utilizing the huge fluffy tail in my arms as a prop enriched the frame wonderfully while covering part of the skirt to highlight the leg lines. This tail is genuinely massive and soft, giving a great sense of security when hugged. Whether crossing hands or looking straight into the lens, I was striving to showcase an atmosphere hovering between cuteness and light maturity. Lounging against the flowering tree in front of the circular window, with scattered calligraphy letters covering the floor and the flower-and-bird traditional painting behind, maxed out the ancient-style scene atmosphere. Holding a calligraphy brush and model letter while slightly leaning against the daybed, this lazy feeling is actually quite hard to grasp and requires maintaining a certain muscle tension in the body to present an attractive posture. Especially the crossing angle of the legs—adjusting it even slightly results in entirely different visual effects.
Regarding lighting setup, the photographer adopted a cool-and-warm color contrast. Blue-purple ambient light and warm-yellow lantern light hit the body, giving the white and gold garments even more texture. The reflectivity of the White stockings was also carefully adjusted to ensure they weren't overly distracting while still embodying that wrapped texture. Overall, this shoot was quite meticulous in the application of light and shadow; the fabric splicing of the costume, the wig's layering, and the visual extension of the White stockings were all wonderfully displayed under the lens. The composition of each photo tried to maintain frame balance, especially the sitting shots where the leg extension effect looked fantastic through the lens. The entire studio shooting process went smoothly, with each stage from scene construction to final image delivery consuming considerable time. I hope everyone notices these various small details hidden within the frame while browsing these photos.
