The costume and props for Saiba Midori took a very long time to prepare. From trimming and styling the wig to proofreading the details of the costume, every step took a lot of thought. To restore the character's casual yet somewhat sci-fi temperament, I deliberately chose this mint-green and white dress, with a huge black bow on the chest; this contrasting color is extremely eye-catching in front of the lens. The wig was chosen in a light golden hue, tied into twin-tails on both sides with green hair ties, and the bangs were also trimmed according to the face shape to make the overall proportions more harmonious.
In terms of props, the black-and-green mechanical animal ears on top of the head and that long black tail are the soul of the styling. During the shooting, to highlight these two accessories, I tried my best to avoid large blocking movements. The green halo special effect prop on the head was actually a transparent acrylic board combined with post-processing effects or special lighting during actual shooting; to ensure the preliminary effect, I adjusted the angle of my head many times. As for the tail, to make it look natural and not out of place, whether sitting or lying on the sofa, I deliberately let the tail naturally drape along my side or the sofa.
The shooting location this time was chosen as an indoor space decorated with white leather sofas and a large number of plush toys. This kind of setting easily reminds people of gaming at home. I put on long stockings decorated with white ruffles; this kind of socks not only modifies the leg shape, but also fits the overall clothing style very well. When posing, I focused on highlighting some everyday life details. For example, picking up the Nintendo Switch, sometimes holding it with both hands, and sometimes lifting it while lying on the sofa cushion. To showcase the character's personality, I chose a rather lazy posture, such as sitting with crossed legs like in Figure 2, or lying down completely relaxed like in Figure 3.
In terms of lighting, this set of photos used a large area of natural soft light, which can make the mint green and white appear cleaner and more translucent. During post-processing retouching, I didn't deliberately increase the saturation, but instead kept the original soft tone. Coupled with the cloud stickers and dolls on the wall as embellishments, the overall color of the image is very harmonious.
The biggest difficulty during the shooting process was how to naturally integrate 2D elements into a 3D living scene. Props like halos and animal ears can easily look abrupt if the angle is wrong. My experience is to use everyday actions more often to balance these non-everyday decorations. For example, holding a game console in hand, or biting a small object in the mouth; once attention is shifted, the frame becomes more vivid instead. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the completion degree of this set of photos.
