This Touhou Project Remilia shoot demanded a great deal of effort right from the planning stages. For the wardrobe, the pink dress features numerous layers of lace and frills; to hold up that lavish volume, a custom rigid petticoat was added underneath. Although it slightly limited walking and posing, the silhouette and curvature of the skirt looked pristine on camera. The light blue wig was styled specifically for this look, paired with crimson contact lenses to capture the vampire mistress's proud, tsundere majesty. Attaching the bat wings was quite tricky, requiring precise adjustment of the rear harness to ensure natural flare angles while keeping balance steady.

To align with her character lore, the venue was chosen inside a sprawling hall featuring metallic industrial trusses. The photographer @Anncore dedicated extensive thought to lighting design and composite post-production. Overhead spotlights paired with a massive blood moon and swirling red clouds added in post create a surreal, foreboding intensity. The crimson liquid splashes swirling around the weapon and falling rose petals were brought to life through VFX; to ensure authentic liquid tension, fine specular highlights and trailing droplets along the contours were rendered with great precision.

Core stability was crucial when capturing dynamic action shots. For wide rotational spins, the skirt had to flare out completely at the exact instant the shutter clicked, while the upper body and facial expressions remained composed without distorting. Wielding that long red polearm required not only projecting kinetic power through swings, but also actively engaging the camera. The crimson hue symbolizes blood and power while echoing the character's primary palette, bringing out the true aura of the Scarlet Devil Mansion's mistress.

For the makeup, a translucent pale base was applied, with eye makeup focusing on deepened red blending at the outer corners and blush in soft pink tones to accentuate that non-human contrast of pallor and vivid elegance. In footwear, dark red platform Mary Janes harmonized with the costume's palette while adding height to flatter bodily proportions. The shoot environment was cavernous and chilly, but projecting an imposing presence meant committing fully to expansive postures rather than shrinking back. The interplay between industrial steel and the fantastical blood moon created a striking juxtaposition—a playful experiment blending cyberpunk textures with gothic romance. The density of blood-droplet VFX was carefully measured; too dense would look cluttered, while too sparse would lack punch, so effects were concentrated around key focal points like the weapon's tip and the skirt hem to direct the viewer's gaze. Repeated spinning and jumping took a heavy physical toll, yet seeing that glamorous, dangerous energy captured in playback made every ounce of effort worthwhile. This set represents not just a tribute to the character, but also my own visual exploration of classical gothic aesthetics.
