[Yao cosplay] Honor of Kings Sparkle Project: Jiangmen Jieyuan Comic Exhibition Convention Photos

For this Jiangmen Jieyuan Comic Exhibition, I chose to cosplay Yao from Honor of Kings in her Sparkle Project outfit, which is a school-style look I personally love. While preparing before entering the venue, I was actually quite worried about securing the wig and antlers, considering the heavy foot traffic and the relatively large size of the horns on this gear. Fortunately, my overall state was on point that day, and the thinned layers of the wig matched the light, lively feel of the Sparkle Project design without looking too heavy.

Regarding outfit coordination, a cropped gray spliced blazer jacket paired with a waist-revealing white top visually elongated body proportions, while a dark plaid pleated skirt on the lower body matched with pure white platform sneakers created an overall everyday look that felt crisp yet imbued with anime aesthetics. For makeup, to fit the character's traits, I specially wore light-colored contact lenses and slightly emphasized eye contours, paired with under-eye blush and a cool flushed tone, giving the face a gentle yet sharp gaze that the photographer captured in many interactive eye-contact moments during this Cosplay photography session.

Convention venue lighting actually poses quite a challenge for cosplayers: the hall interior was overall dim, and while overhead lighting existed, ambient light and harsh direct lights easily created uneven facial shadows. Fortunately, photographer NightDiva brought a high-powered fill light; the side-backlighting setup made the overall silhouette and wig texture pop dramatically. Against the dark backdrop, the character's colors appeared far more vivid. We experimented with various angles together, including jumping snapshots where I raised one arm high to create visual impact—balancing my center of gravity at that moment was tricky, but the result turned out unexpectedly energetic. We also shot close-up cheek-cupping compositions, whose slightly languid posing matched her quiet disposition nicely.

The dramatic wide-angle perspective emphasizing hand movement in Photo 3 was another attempt I really liked, appearing as if reaching right through the screen with powerful visual tension. The final selection of full-body shots featuring a relaxed hands-on-hips pose clearly showcased overall costume proportions alongside shoe and sock coordination—a presentation style I frequently use. This shoot experience for Sparkle Project Yao cosplay went smoothly; the outfit was lightweight without heavy prop burdens, allowing easy movement to walk around freely at the convention without fear of bumping into things.

Producing these photos, I paid close attention to pose details, such as sleeve layering and the exact amount of white inner top exposed at the waist, which directly impacted character accuracy. Though invisible in final shots, the photographer and I aligned camera angles many times regarding antler and hair ornament positions to ensure no noticeable misalignment from any angle. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the atmosphere and quality of these Sparkle Project Yao photos from Jiangmen Jieyuan Comic Exhibition, leaving no major regrets, as everyone remained focused and cooperative throughout the entire shoot process for these Convention photos.
