[Yixuan cosplay] Chinese-Style Courtyard and Techwear Leather Outfit in Zenless Zone Zero

For this Yixuan cosplay location shoot, I chose a well-preserved traditional Chinese courtyard. White walls, grey tiles, carved wooden pillars, bluestone bridges, and red lanterns—these elements completely maxed out that unique vintage texture. This character's outfit is exceptionally memorable: a glossy black leather cinched jacket paired with a white inner top at the collar and a multi-layered white-trimmed short skirt below, which really tests how the garment materials perform under natural light.

The weather was great on the shooting day, with abundant sunlight. In an environment with such high lighting contrast, the reflections on the patent leather became a natural visual focal point. To complement the outfit's techwear feel and crisp aura, I chose classic black pantyhose paired with pointed high heels. This combination visually elongates the leg lines significantly, working with the high waist design to make the posture look very slender. In fact, when shooting this type of clothing outdoors, choosing a wide-leg stance or leaning slightly sideways against a wooden pillar best showcases the garment's tailored cuts and body proportions. The close-up shot in the photos leaning against the pillar, with hands crossed over the chest, captured a perfect blend of rigid garment texture and soft light and shadow, so I chose it as the cover for this Cosplay photoshoot sharing.

Another interesting aspect of this shoot was interacting with bird props. In previous photos, black birds appeared on the back of my hand or fingertips, which didn't overshadow the subject while adding a touch of vividness and grace to the image. Shooting with bird props requires great coordination between props and the model; a slight movement could make them fly off, requiring me to hold my hand pose steady while keeping a natural expression—quite a test of composure! The resulting effect turned out very natural, and paired with the mottled old wooden doors and dry grass by the water behind me, the overall atmosphere came to life instantly.

Regarding location selection, I feel that characters with this techwear and modern vibe might easily fall into clichés if shot purely in modern urban street settings. Placing them within ancient architecture rich in traditional Eastern elements creates a wonderfully fascinating visual contrast instead. Chinese gardens offer rich variations in light and shadow; one can utilize openwork windows and hallway pillars to create a spatial sense of alternating light and dark. During the shoot, we paid special attention to leveraging natural light to strike the patent leather, creating bright highlights so that the leather jacket's inherent layers and luster appeared even more three-dimensional for Anime-style photography.

There were also some small episodes during shooting—for instance, standing by the water in winter was actually quite freezing, but to match the overall ambiance, I had to grit my teeth and walk on the bridge and stone pathways in thin attire. To find suitable angles, the photographer constantly shifted positions, sometimes needing to crouch low to shoot upward to elongate proportions and boost a commanding presence. As a cosplayer, I deeply enjoy working alongside the photo team to turn flat concepts into story-driven photographs. Combining this cool, distant style with the courtyard's archaic charm was a truly satisfying creative endeavor. There were no special tricks; it relied entirely on on-site lighting, garment textures, and a spark of inspiration colliding to create great visual frames in this Chinese-style cosplay.
