[Yu Linglong cosplay] Happy Fate Red Line: The Crimson Bond in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT

The theme of this shoot is a Cosplay photoshoot for Yu Linglong's "Happy Fate Red Line" outfit in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, focusing on replicating and displaying the fine details and charm of this Chinese-style cosplay design. We put a lot of effort into makeup, set decoration, and pose direction. The final atmosphere turned out exactly as intended, so today I'm sharing the design details behind this set of photos.

Let's start with the most complex part—the makeup and hair styling. The biggest visual impact of this outfit comes from the contrast between the vibrant red and white hair. The wig uses soft, long white hair, decorated at the top and sides with fluffy beast ears and red silk flowers. A cinnabar mark in the center of the forehead combined with red blending around the outer eye corners effectively enhances the character's lively yet slightly demonic concept. To match the eye expression, highly pigmented red eyeshadow was used to deepen contours, paired with red contact lenses that present an ethereal direct gaze under specific lighting.

As for the garment, the red-and-gold elements were pushed to the extreme. The main body of the dress is bright red silk, covered with extensive gold embroidery patterns resembling wings or flames. The tailored cut highlights the waistline, letting golden chains drape naturally along the contours of the waist and abdomen. The teal gemstone centered on the chest serves as a visual focal point, reflecting fine sparkles even in shadow. The red wraps around the wrists and ankles are not only signature elements of this skin, but through the photographer's lens, these intertwining red cords also form key leading lines that beautifully showcase body extensions. During fitting, the knots on the hands and feet were adjusted repeatedly to ensure a bound feel without being so tight as to impair circulation or movement flexibility. Additionally, the fluffy pinkish-white faux-fur arm sleeves on the upper arms and white pom-poms on the skirt hem echo the beast ear motif while softening the heavy feel of the predominant red.

The set for this shoot was also a wonderful surprise. The studio setup delivered a rich Chinese-style aesthetic, using a giant circular warm light background to simulate a full moon, surrounded by realistic bamboo, mahogany seating, and walls hung with calligraphy scrolls. Red sheer fabric covered the floor, complemented by real smoke effects at specific camera angles; this genuine fog effect brought rich depth and layering to the frame. For props, a red umbrella, folding fan, and silk ribbons provided excellent support for posing. Lighting was kept relatively soft, with rim lighting sculpting the red fabric to give it a semi-translucent sheen while making the texture of the white hair look silky and harmonious within the frame.

During the shoot, we tried several distinctly different styles. For example, the first snapshot with hands raised above the head shows wrists entangled in red cords, echoing the theme of "bonds enduring endlessly in eternal fate," emphasizing an ethereal sense of being bound. In contrast, the seated pose on the wooden chair with legs crossed highlights the character's relaxed poise and composure. This angle fully exposed the red cord details around the ankles, which is why I chose it as the cover image. There were also reclining poses and hand-reaching close-ups intended to showcase her essence more thoroughly. The final images underwent careful post-processing, primarily retaining original ambient color without exaggerated alterations, fine-tuning light-and-shadow contrast to bring out the luster of fabrics and metal. Experiencing character traits and bringing them into reality is always my favorite part of any photography process.
