[Yun Ying cosplay] Honor of Kings Dali Temple Bailiff: The Spear Mirrors My Heart

Good morning! Today I'm Yun Ying, the Dali Temple bailiff entrusted with maintaining peace and order across the city of Chang'an. This finished photoshoot was actually shot in Xi'an; weaving through those ancient upturned eaves and bracket sets, I genuinely felt that the crimson pillars and stone staircases were tailor-made for Yun Ying.

To recreate the imposing presence of the Fire Spear, crafting this spear prop took tremendous effort. While the red-and-white tunic with wide-flowing cuffs looked airy and heroic when swung, it placed serious demands on fluid movement—one careless slip and the spear shaft would easily tangle with my hair. Still, the moment I squared into a battle stance, that supreme confidence of being 'invincible within six paces' surfaced instantly. The black waist corset and gilded armor components boasted exceptional textural pop under the outdoor daylight. To channel Yun Ying's crisp agility and martial strength, I refined my poses repeatedly through every nuance.

A crowning highlight of this styling was the marriage of leg armor and tall boots. The black-and-gold thigh armor tightly hugged the skin (Black stockings style), paired with white high-heeled tall boots that not only visually elongated the leg lines, but also injected a fierce edge fitting a warrior girl. For the shots seated on the stone balustrades, keeping that light yet powerhouse tension required engaging my core muscles throughout. The full-body shot stepping firmly onto the carved stone lion was especially memorable: to match the photographer's low-angle perspective, I had to balance rock-solid on one foot atop the stone carving, balancing the stern authority of a Dali Temple patrol with the character's spirited youthful charm. The sunlight on the day of the shoot was glorious, dappling through the sturdy vermilion timber pillars. I discovered this outfit looked breathtaking under natural illumination, particularly the red cape and skirt trims as they billowed in the breeze, channeling the evocative poetry of a Wuxia novel.

Past the Vermilion Bird Gate lies the Court of State Ceremonies, where things are bound to get far livelier! The traditional architectural ensembles in Xi'an recreated that classical urban bustle to perfection; walking amongst them felt like truly stepping into thriving, historic Chang'an. While shooting, I immersed myself in Yun Ying's voice lines—channeling that sharp vigilance when sensing a major case brewing, or that eager, itching excitement when catching sight of a petty thief. The costume's construction is packed with intricate elements: whether the metallic crests across the chest or the dangling red tassels at the hip, I strove to let them unfurl naturally mid-motion before the lens.

Naturally, the fiercest pose remains the initiating stance of the Fire Spear's ultimate art: gripping the shaft firmly with both hands while locking down a resolute, unwavering gaze. Yet honestly, after cycling through several wide, explosive martial maneuvers, my arms ached so intensely I could barely lift them—proving that becoming the master of all weapons demands serious stamina. Every time I step into Yun Ying, it's an intensely vibrant, invigorating experience. Her fiery spirit of never backing down and charging straight into adversity is deeply infectious, fueling me with relentless drive throughout the portrayal.
