Today I shot a finished Blue Archive Kyoyama Kazusa cosplay set. Unlike quick convention photos, capturing her effortless, slightly languid charm in this Anime-style photography shoot took considerable preliminary preparation. For the wardrobe, I chose a black hooded jacket layered over a white sailor uniform with green trim, accented with a pink bow at the chest. The pink cat ears and halo prop on the headpiece were custom-made, rendering a crystalline, translucent quality under the lights. For the lower half, I paired it with semi-sheer Black stockings. During the shoot, managing the glare on the stockings proved quite tricky: lighting that was too bright made the stockings look artificial, while too dim lost their delicate texture. Ultimately, pairing softboxes did the trick, capturing natural shadows and sleek contours. The outfit worn today was very form-fitting, requiring long adjustments in posing to flatter the visual outcome. For the floral backdrop set, I sat on the bed with crossed legs, which not only accentuated leg lines but allowed my entire posture to appear more relaxed and open. For the two indoor sets, I shifted poses—kneeling on the cushion with hands on hips, or sitting cross-legged while brushing a hand through my hair.
On the gear side, I used a SONY A7C2 paired with the 24-70mm F2.8 GM II and 50mm F1.4 GM lenses. The bokeh from the 50mm prime is exceptionally creamy and pleasing; shot wide open, the subject separation from the background is virtually flawless. The 24-70mm allowed me to quickly switch compositions, especially for the floral backdrop where the wide end could incorporate more environmental elements. Throughout the shoot, Kazusa's quote echoed in my mind: 'Have I been a good girl this year?' It sounds self-deprecating yet tinged with a stubborn edge. To seize this exact emotion, I tested countless expressions in front of the lens. The on-set lighting leaned toward warm tones to accentuate skin translucency, and post-processing color grading followed this exact mindset without heavy-handed filters. The entire shoot went smoothly, and I feel the final shots faithfully recreated the character's temperament. I hope everyone enjoys this finished set!
