\"Gotcha!\" This time I'm bringing you the cosplay photoshoot for Xishi's \"Exquisite Delicacies\" skin from Honor of Kings. Because I really love the lively, down-to-earth street vibe of this skin, I put a lot of effort into the costume and props during the preparation stage.
First, let's talk about the costume. The main color palette of Exquisite Delicacies is a vibrant collision of red, blue, and white, featuring many subtle Chinese-style tailoring details. The red coat complements skin tone nicely, decorated with alternating white and blue stripe details; the short-cut style feels very light to wear without being cumbersome. The blue knot ornament at the waist and cuff patterns incorporate cloud and water ripple elements, echoing the hero's core setting wonderfully. The headpiece consists of golden leaf shapes paired with a light brown straight wig, looking far from dull when worn. To better recreate skin features, I wore white leg warmers paired with small shoes with red laces, creating a vivid and bright color scheme that retains traditional garment charm while remaining nimble and playful.
I also specifically prepared a rich set of props this time. In the photo, my left hand holds a flat, round white food box, while my right hand holds a small white item, with my fingertips gently wrapped around a red cord decorated with red tassels and flower ornaments. The moment in Photo 2 feeding the cat candied hawthorns is also super cute; that stick of candied hawthorns was actually a custom prop, specifically made fake so the cat could interact safely. The prop master made it extraordinarily realistic, down to the texture of the hawthorns. The bamboo steamers and the straw basket beside them together created an authentic kitchen or stall-side atmosphere.
For scene selection, we found a traditional Chinese-style wooden room. The carved wooden doors and windows in the background brought an innate rustic charm, while wooden tables and benches added weight to the setting. Lighting mainly came from warm yellow paper lanterns overhead; this directional low-color-temperature light source was ideal for a daily street life theme, highlighting character contours and soft skin warmth. The venue also featured red silk fabrics and glowing orange tree decorations, which, combined with bamboo scrolls tucked in straw baskets, made scene elements rich without feeling cluttered in this Ancient style photography setting.
The most amusing part during shooting was interacting with the silver-gray tabby cat in Photo 2. We originally wanted it to sit obediently on the table as a static backdrop, but it completely ignored commands and kept causing playful chaos. Finally, a sudden spark of inspiration hit—I used the prop candied hawthorns to tease it, unintentionally catching an amusing moment of it leaning close to sniff the hawthorns. Its desire to show off was strong, and that instant capture brought the photo set alive, letting street-life vitality jump right off the page.
In Photo 1, sitting on the bench, I tried a relaxed and open pose with legs crossed and toes slightly raised, displaying costume tailoring alongside leg wraps and shoes much better. Raising a white prop in one hand with a smile created an interactive feel that lets viewers sense the character's innate approachability. I've always loved the gentle yet assertive aura conveyed by the Exquisite Delicacies skin, and interpreting it through this cosplay serves as my personal homage to this classic outfit. Although small mishaps occurred during the process—such as prop cords entangling my hands or the wig getting snagged on hair ornaments—the final results proved quite satisfying.
For this set of photos, I minimized excessive post-processing, retaining subtle ambient light grain so traditional style charm and modern photography aesthetics blend harmoniously. Shooting characters embedded with cultural elements genuinely tests synergy between photographer and cosplayer; fortunately, the team was fantastic, bringing out this vivid, everyday agility together.
