[Minami Kotori cosplay] Love Live! Zhanjiang white studio photoshoot record - Image 1

Minami Kotori's idol costume was finally successfully shot this weekend at the Zhanjiang white studio. This is the third part of the photoshoot, and P.3 mainly showcases the front details of the idol costume along with some energetic interactive poses.
The outfit worn this time is the classic pink-and-white plaid heart idol costume. The splicing of the dark chestnut fabric and pink heart on the top is a real test for lighting. To present the best colors in the shadowless studio, I re-groomed the wig in advance. The light flaxen long hair along with that iconic bright green large bow on top of the head is the finishing touch of the entire styling. The blunt bangs of the wig need to be pressed down firmly, and the side buns must also be securely fixed with hairpins to prevent them from flying apart during large movements in the studio.
The puff sleeves on the shoulders and the golden lace trims are the highlights of this outfit. Under the shadowless lights of the Zhanjiang white studio, the golden lace edges are very prone to overexposure from reflection, so the photographer Huanghun made many adjustments to the camera parameters. He asked me to extend my arms forward as much as possible, just like in the photo, making a playful salute-like gesture. This not only showcases the details of the cuffs, but also tilts the body slightly, breaking the rigidity of a static standing pose. The other hand naturally extends outward with the palm facing down, accompanied by the pink heart-shaped balloon and bright pink round balloon on the left, as well as the light blue and white balloon on the right, creating a festive or birthday atmosphere.
A wide white leather belt with a golden square buckle was tied around the waist, which nicely cinched the waistline, connecting below to a three-layered fluffy skirt. The outermost layer is pink-and-white plaid, the middle layer is vertical stripes, and the innermost layer is a white pleated skirt hem. Because the skirt hem has many layers, against the pure white background of the shadowless studio, it easily blends in with the background. Therefore, when posing, I tried to slightly showcase the shadowed side of the skirt hem to increase the three-dimensional sense. White over-the-knee socks were worn on the legs, which is also an important part of restoring the character; in the pure white background, the leg lines and the edges of the white socks need to rely on light and shadow to be distinguished, rather than being completely without outline.
The advantage of a shadowless studio shoot is that the light is extremely uniform, with no need to worry about excessive shadows, but the downside is that it severely tests the texture of the clothing itself and the color layers. Because the lighting in the shadowless studio is bright enough, the facial makeup must be adjusted accordingly; the colors of the blush and lip gloss cannot be too light, otherwise they will be washed out in the high-brightness environment. The eye makeup used brown-toned contact lenses and contour-emphasizing eyeshadow, paired with pearl teardrop earrings, giving the face more focus in the frame.
Since this is already the third part, the cooperation with photographer Huanghun has become even more tacit. From the early-stage costume arrangement and wig styling to the on-site action guidance and balloon prop placement, the whole process went very smoothly. This set of photos overall presents a clean 2D photography style, with no messy backgrounds, and all visual focus is on the character and the costume. During the shoot, to maintain the fluffiness of the skirt hem, sitting was not allowed, and I had to stand and adjust my poses the whole time; after several sets of movements, my waist and legs were a bit sore, but seeing the clean light and vivid colors of the shadowless studio on the camera screen, I felt these preparations and hardships were totally worth it. This studio shoot experience has given me more confidence in shadowless studio photography, and given the opportunity next time, I will try to showcase character outfits of different styles in such a pure environment.
