[Liberalio cosplay] Cyberpunk Illusory Dream in Goddess of Victory: NIKKE

Bringing Liberalio from Goddess of Victory: NIKKE to life required immense care from character styling to set construction. We aimed for a retro-futuristic Cyberpunk aesthetic, bypassing conventional solid-colored studio cycloramas in favor of numerous vintage CRT Retro television sets, oscilloscopes, and laboratory test monitors. Emitting white static noise and cold cyan glows, combined with translucent luminous jellyfish props, the set forged an uncanny ambience merging deep-sea mystique with electronic decay.

For the wardrobe, this white form-fitting bodysuit features meticulous craftsmanship: its subtly shimmering textile surface, accented with purple contour lines and black harness straps, reflects distinct sheens under varying lighting angles. To enrich the silhouette's layering, translucent puffed sleevelets and black leather belts were added to the arms, grounded by a broad metallic silver choker at the neck. The lower half paired rhinestone-embellished White stockings with sleek white stiletto pumps; maneuvering through the cable-strewn set in them was demanding, yet the visual payoff was undeniable. The soft lavender twintail wig was heavily pre-styled and crowned with white lace headdresses, treated with leave-in serum before shooting to ensure sleekness and dimensional volume without frizz. For eye makeup, reddish-brown contacts forged a striking chromatic contrast against the frigid ambient palette.

Interacting with the physical set heavily tested my stamina throughout the session. Those vintage television monitors were remarkably heavy. Whether sitting coiled among industrial cabling in Photo 1, draping over a snow-static screen in Photo 2, or balancing atop a compact CRT set in Photo 3, maintaining effortless facial composure while engaging core strength to hold balance was essential. Translucent cyan tubing and frayed white drapery were artfully strewn across the floor, appearing chaotic at first glance yet precisely mapped to guide compositional depth.

Regarding illumination, the photographer deployed multiple cool-toned light fixtures for rim and side-backlighting, allowing the glowing jellyfish props to carve out natural edge highlights around the silhouette. Because cathode screens and monitor glass easily kick back distracting specular glares, light angles were continually shifted to prevent reflections of the crew. The color scheme was carefully locked between violet-blue and pure white, requiring only minimal color grading in post.

Shooting this set was a uniquely immersive journey. Complex set dressing and heavy analog hardware challenged both physical endurance and lens presence. From garment textures to the brutal machinery of the environment, every nuance demanded exacting control to transform still photography into a rich, three-dimensional narrative world.
