[Zhuang Fangyi cosplay] Arknights: Endfield: Green-Haired Elf with a Greatsword

Bringing Zhuang Fangyi to life this time required tremendous thought and effort, from hair and makeup to wardrobe and props. Her character design is extraordinarily distinctive; the tactile texture of the red-and-black antlers on her head was crucial, and we adjusted the base and concealed hairpins numerous times to make them appear seamless and organic. Her hair is long and deep green with subtle red highlights, and the gradient layers toward the tips were refined through multiple attempts. Once the pointed Elf ears were put on, that non-human, mystical aura immediately emerged. For makeup, I heavily emphasized the blue irises and smoky shading around the eyes, hoping to better match the character's ambient mood.

In terms of wardrobe, this outfit design is truly unique, fusing traditional Chinese tailoring with cybernetic mechanical elements. The metallic components across the chest, along with the asymmetrical mecha bracers on the arms, required careful attention regarding weathering and metallic paint finishes. Because these rigid parts needed to remain secure during motion, donning them took quite a bit of effort. To faithfully recreate the character's tail, I custom-ordered a long teal scaled tail tipped with blue-black fur; posing it properly while walking or sitting was essential to avoid breaking the illusion on camera in this Chinese-style mecha ensemble.

The green-and-gold Greatsword prop in hand was exceptionally heavy. Raising it with one hand for posing demanded engaged core strength to keep it steady, all while maintaining a natural, composed facial expression—a real test of stamina. For lighting, the photographer utilized warm amber lanterns alongside a circular light panel behind me, establishing an interplay between antiquity and modernity. The set was decorated with Chinese folding screens, floral arrangements, paper lanterns, and calligraphy scrolls, which greatly enriched the visual depth.

During the shoot, we explored several poses—such as glancing back over my shoulder in a three-quarter turn, an upright formal seated posture, and a crossed-leg seated pose. These postures needed to convey the character's calm composure while accentuating the structural lines of the costume through body language. For instance, the standing stance had to project the imposing presence of the Greatsword, while seated poses needed to feel relaxed yet firm. Holding a flowering branch and crossing my legs showcased both the garment's layering and the lines of my legs, as the cut of the outfit flattered my proportions even more when seated. As a cosplayer, portraying a character is more than just wearing clothes; it's about channeling their aloof, quietly enigmatic aura. The entire shooting process was joyful with wonderful synergy across the team, striving for precision from prop placement to minute lighting tweaks.
