This Christmas-themed shoot revolves around Emilia, the very first character that launched my cosplay journey. To match the winter atmosphere, the preparation phase took considerable time, from formulating the concept and selecting props to testing studio lighting. The core focus of this shoot was faithfully recreating the festive Christmas red-and-green palette and ensuring the harmonious coordination of white plush trim, white gloves, and over-the-knee socks within the outfit to highlight both the holiday essence and a cozy winter feel.
I chose a silver-white wig, which, combined with purple colored contacts and Elf ears props, beautifully brought out the character's fantasy traits. For the studio set design, I chose a deep-brown vintage tufted leather sofa that perfectly complemented the red-and-white Christmas outfit. A Christmas tree was placed in the background with cotton spread across the floor to simulate snowdrifts, accompanied by gift boxes and a snowman plushie wearing a red hat; the warm lighting made the overall atmosphere even cozier. We experimented with several distinct angles and poses: the first shot sitting centered on the sofa holding a gift is a classic showcase composition that creates the best visual impact combined with the leg proportion shown in White stockings; the second shot holding the snowman in my arms is playful and lively; the third shot sitting in the faux snow pile on the rug, looking down while hugging the snowman, used a high-angle close-up to capture a serene, quiet mood.
The visual focus of the entire photoset remained dead-center, with no watermarks added in post-processing. As this was the first character I ever portrayed, this Christmas cosplay shoot served as a meaningful milestone. For makeup, the eyes were subtly brightened to make the gaze clearer and more translucent against the vintage warm lighting, and the wig was given a fluffy, dimensional styling. In terms of costume, the skirt has rich layering, and the white fuzzy trim tests the overall volume and structure; during shooting, the skirt angle was deliberately adjusted to keep leg lines natural. The props were staggered purposefully to prevent the background from feeling cluttered. The shoot progressed smoothly, delivering a rich Christmas atmosphere—making it a deeply fulfilling and faithful recreation of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- for me.
