[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] The Snow-Sweeping Magician in a Winter Courtyard

Snow has fallen over Gensokyo, and the red-and-white shrine maiden called me over to help shovel snow. Achoo—! The late November chill was piercingly cold; during this shoot, the magician's broom almost froze solid, and every gust of wind left me shivering. Cosplaying Marisa Kirisame this time was essentially taking on a request from that red-and-white shrine maiden—as her Gensokyo cleaner and live-in roommate, clearing the snow at the shrine entrance felt entirely natural. While preparing the styling, seeing this dress made my back shiver in advance simply because of the sheer volume of ruffles on the skirt. Huge thanks to the master tailors at Pleat Hell Costume Customization for crafting such an impeccably faithful outfit—cascading tiers of white lace, classic monochrome checkerboard patterns, and blue ribbons delivered exceptional texture, though crouching and moving in it was quite the physical workout. Wearing that oversized pointed witch hat out in the snow scene definitely set the right atmosphere. Artificial snow was falling on the shoot day and the freezing weather was intense; my brown boots were heavy, and to capture the intended aesthetic, I had to brave the elements wearing black stockings while standing or sitting directly on the frigid ground, freezing to the point where I desperately wanted to run back indoors. To bring out the magician's agile and dashing presence, photographer Water-VON directed a variety of dynamic movements, such as mid-jump captures or sitting in the snow with legs outstretched while looking up. What appeared to be relaxed, effortless poses actually required constantly pushing against the frozen ground, leaving my legs completely numb by the end. However, the photographer's composition was brilliant—using wooden doorframes and traditional paper shoji screens as foreground elements to create a powerful contrast between the warm amber indoor lighting and the crisp white snowflakes, delivering intense visual impact. After wrapping outside and returning to the cozy living room sofa for close-up pickups, I felt completely revitalized. This photo set faithfully captures Marisa's classic Touhou Project persona: tomboyish, mischievous, an avid collector, yet thoroughly reliable at her core. Therefore, posing couldn't look overly delicate; facial expressions needed a touch of spirited boldness and grit. Seeing myself amidst the flying snow, despite enduring the bitter cold, blending winter's quiet stillness with lively energy yielded photos I am genuinely thrilled with.
