The photos from the 2025 Firefly ACG Expo are finally sorted out! What drew me most to portraying Aglaea was her complex, elegant persona as the Seamstress of Okhema. To faithfully capture her presence at the convention, tremendous care went into the wardrobe details. In particular, the sculpted golden adornments underwent repeated material adjustments from pattern drafting to surface coating, aiming to capture a rich, substantial metallic texture under the lights. The heavy golden neckpiece naturally encouraged an upright posture, which aligned seamlessly with the character's poised demeanor.
Because Aglaea's attire incorporates extensive draping and pleats, I specifically selected satin fabrics that possessed a subtle sheen without appearing cheap or overly reflective. With multiple skirt tiers, lifting the hem slightly while walking was necessary to avoid stepping on it. Teaming up and interacting with my partner, Ta Ge Ge Ge, on-site was a genuine delight. Our costumes harmonized well in color and style, effortlessly establishing strong visual synergy on camera. We spent ample time coordinating our stage blocking to ensure organic chemistry rather than disconnected individual poses.
Navigating the complex stage illumination required adjusting my gaze and head angle under guidance to let the light accentuate the costume's three-dimensional cut. The right thigh ring paired with textured Stockings is one of my favorite styling details—it flatters the leg line while enhancing the character's fantasy charm. Holding poses across the session proved physically demanding, requiring core engagement to maintain clean silhouette lines, but seeing the final frames made every bit of effort worthwhile.
The convention backdrop featured a dreamy garden sky aesthetic that complemented Aglaea's white-and-gold palette wonderfully. This collection documents the joy of fully immersing into character on-site while opening a conversation around textile coordination. To achieve authentic fidelity, substantial research went into weathering and light reflection techniques for the metallic accents—incorporating subtle grain and shading rather than just raw gloss. The wig underwent continuous refinement to ensure natural hair flow; after initial cutting, daily maintenance and styling were required to prevent it from flattening during intense convention wear. Although the preparation spanned a considerable time, seeing people recognize Aglaea and enjoy the portrayal brought immense fulfillment. I hope everyone enjoys this set!
