[Ruan Mei cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Can't Handle the Freezing AC at the Anime convention

Wandering around the Anime convention hall for hours in my Ruan Mei cosplay styling, the biggest takeaway was that the venue's AC felt like it was actively working against me—it was so freezing that I was shivering.

Initially, I thought wearing such a lightweight dress would make things easier, but never did I expect that the off-shoulder design would become absolute torture indoors with cold air blowing directly on me. Still, since I decided to cosplay this character from Honkai: Star Rail, not a single detail in preparation could be spared. To faithfully capture Ruan Mei's styling, I specifically chose blue-green contact lenses, styled the wig with a black-to-blue gradient, and added little floral hairpins. The blue-and-white top paired with the blue choker featuring a ruby gem and pearl necklace created rich layering, which also required careful effort to secure when putting on.

Usually during studio shoots there are heaters and professional studio lighting, but coming out to an Anime convention means having to endure the venue's ambient air conditioning. Today, holding up the Plum blossom round fan for half the day left my fingers rather stiff from the cold, while having to maintain expression control to uphold the character's serene, cool elegance without looking like I was trembling—truly a massive test of dedication.

To capture great shots, I constantly discussed angles with the photographer and struck appealing poses, especially fine-tuning the wrist tension for the Plum blossom round fan shot. Even though I was freezing, seeing the final outcome made me feel the trip wasn't in vain. The blue-and-white color palette turned out exceptionally clean on camera, even if in reality all I did was chat with the photographer about how freezing cold it was. This kind of Anime convention experience feels genuinely authentic, with everyone being so passionate and vibrant.

On the way back, I wrapped myself tightly in a jacket, gradually restoring my body temperature. Although I complained about the AC all day, being able to happily attend the Anime convention and take various photos with fellow fans was very joyful. It was also my first time cosplaying such a serene, aloof character at an Anime convention; despite the chilly environment, we managed to smoothly wrap several satisfying shots. This hands-on experience gave me better insight into how this outfit performs in real-world conditions, building valuable experience for even better source accuracy in the future.

If I ever wear an off-shoulder look again, I'll definitely stock up on heat packs before heading out. The blue of the dress paired with the pink flowers of the Plum blossom round fan really carries great texture, and shooting in a sunny spot next time would create a totally different ambiance.
