This Honkai: Star Rail Aglaea Cosplay photoset has finally been released. From pattern-making to its final presentation in front of the lens, it took nearly a month to polish this outfit. When I first saw Aglaea in the game, my immediate impression was that her design was extremely unique; the trait of nobility mingled with aloofness, holiness, and a strong sense of power deeply attracted me. To restore this feeling in reality, I put a tremendous amount of effort into material selection.
The main body of the skirt uses a glossy satin material, which produces very delicate reflections under light, presenting a natural transition from off-white to light gold. The golden patterns on the skirt body and the large, complex three-dimensional decoration on the waist and abdomen were custom-molded separately by a master. Because it needed not only the rigid texture of metal but also to minimize the wearing burden while ensuring visual weight, I made numerous adjustments to the hollow structure and back fixation. The golden flower accessory on the chest and the choker were hand-collaged. To prevent them from falling off during movement while shooting, I used an overwhelming number of hidden snaps and transparent shoulder straps for reinforcement. The white petals on the sleeve covers were also cut and applied individually; because the sleeve fabric is extremely lightweight, I was exceptionally careful during sewing, otherwise it would easily pull threads.
The wig uses golden short curly hair, and spending a lot of time was required on trimming and styling. To restore that fluffy and layered feel, a large amount of styling products was used while keeping it natural and not stiff, and the curve of the hair ends was slightly adjusted according to the character's original artwork. In terms of makeup, green contact lenses are the soul of the entire eye makeup. The eyeshadow used a warm orange-brown tone, layered with delicate glitter, making the eyes look more lively and deep under the lighting. The lip makeup chose a softer milky apricot color to match the overall gold-and-white color scheme atmosphere without being overly eye-catching.
A lot of thought was also put into the scene setup on the shooting day. White hollowed-out arches, draping rice-gold satin, and a large number of golden leaves, coupled with crystal candle holders and birdcages, created a holy and gorgeous atmosphere for the entire environment. The ground was covered with mirrored reflector boards, and the photographer utilized reflections to enhance the spatial and layered sense of the frame. The prop sword held in hand was actually quite heavy; to capture a sense of lightness when swinging it, my arm was actually exerting force off-camera. To maintain the character's elegant temperament, the action director kept reminding me to keep my waist and back straight, chin slightly tucked, and gaze maintaining a certain sense of detachment.
Actually, the temperature on the shooting day was quite low, and wearing such a thin skirt while stepping in high heels to make various stretching dynamic poses indeed consumed a lot of physical energy. Especially those candid shots of flipping the skirt hem—to achieve the most perfect dynamic effect, I ran back and forth multiple times. This time, the makeup also underwent some subtle adjustments so that it wouldn't look cakey under warm-toned harsh light, maintaining a certain clarity. Overall, this Aglaea release is a very dedicated attempt of mine. From costumes and props to lighting and composition, every link was repeatedly confirmed, hoping that the final frames allow everyone to feel the unique charm of this character.
