[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail—Battle Moments Like Fireflies Flying into the Flame

This Firefly outfit actually encompasses numerous intricate details, particularly the teal-blue gradient at the wig tips and the pair of wing-like hair accessories atop the head; securing them stably while finding the right angle required adjusting the wig cap position for quite some time. The brown short capelet paired with a shirt featuring a white layered collar, topped with a large orange bow on the front, creates a palette that stands out vividly against the convention hall's relatively cool-toned environment. The blue gem ornaments feature strong material texture, serving as excellent visual accents.

Having reviewed her character lore beforehand, Firefly's combat stance combines lightness with a resolute, all-out determination—so in these Cosplay convention photos, I deliberately controlled the greatsword's swing amplitude and shifts in my center of gravity. This physical teal translucent greatsword prop was considerably heavier than expected; during shooting intervals, my wrists were constantly adapting to its weight. To fully recreate the proportions from her official artwork, these white spliced high-heeled boots with thick platform soles proved quite a test of balance, especially when executing single-leg standing or power-charging poses, requiring core and support leg engagement to keep posture from looking stiff.

Huge thanks to photographer Qi Wu for managing the scene so masterfully—he excels at utilizing the venue roof's metallic framing and neatly arranged tube lights for composition. For most full-body shots, he chose low-angle top perspectives, beautifully enhancing lower body lines—especially the elongated effect of the dark blue gradient leggings—while mitigating any heavy look from the platform shoes. For the half-body close-up, he intentionally utilized a telephoto lens with a large aperture, transforming roof lights into clear, circular bokeh spots; this clean background blur highlights facial makeup and purple contact lens details exquisitely.

The venue itself was a typical large indoor convention hall with slick concrete floors, demanding careful reflections control under bright white hall lights. Using front lights and flash fill required precise positioning to avoid harsh glare blown-outs across face and garments. Fortunately, testing multiple lighting positions retained subtle garment gradients, tight stocking texture, and boot bow pleats in rich detail. Though lacking natural outdoor ambient bounce light, this industrial environment of steel frames and cool light sources resonated surprisingly well with her sci-fi lore setting.

As a cosplayer passionate about character portrayal, undertaking setups with demanding action poses always prompts me to perform strength training beforehand—focusing particularly on wrist, ankle, and core stability. Though walking around wasn't effortless, every preparation proved worthwhile to capture Firefly's tension like Fireflies flying into the flame during combat the instant the shutter clicked. Temperatures were cool inside the hall on shooting day, yet the session left me worked up into a sweat. I feel fortunate to capture these Convention photos at the convention venue; without needing intricate artificial sets, simply donning this costume, gripping this sword, and finding proper camera angles allows her defining highlight moments to shine through before the camera.
