When preparing for this set of mirror selfies, the very first task was properly wearing this Victoria Housekeeping style uniform. As an Ellen Joe cosplay from Zenless Zone Zero, the fusion of Mechanical style cosplay elements with the Maid outfit aesthetic is truly intriguing.

The tailoring of this costume from Ciyuan Yi fits my taste perfectly. Even though it is currently listed as sold out in the official shop, that takes nothing away from its quality in hand. The white lace ruffles paired with structured black faux-leather materials provide both an elegant server aura and the character's aloof, slightly aggressive demeanor. The chest harness buckle, the ring-shaped mechanical ornament on the skirt hem, and the three-dimensional fullness of the petticoat are all exceptionally faithful. Feeling the garment upon arrival, the stitching between fabric and leather materials is handled with great care.

The biggest regret of this photoshoot was actually the tail. Operating alone at home, trying to securely fasten that heavy mechanical shark tail to my back and maintain its natural drape across various standing postures was truly difficult. In the end, I chose to forgo the tail and keep only the base skirt and upper structure, which looks cleaner and allows more focus on the leg design.

Since the tail was omitted, more thought went into posing. Wearing this waist-cinching vest paired with a structured skirt, sheer Black tights outfit, and strapped leg garters places high demands on body lines. The metal buckles and spike accents on the thigh straps are very delicate, and tightening them nicely flatters the leg contours.

Most of these photos were captured by finding angles in front of the mirror with my phone. Wearing the complete gear—the headpiece paired with the red-and-black highlighted wig—added noticeable weight, testing my balance while adjusting before the mirror. Without a photographer or anyone to assist, it relied entirely on repeatedly tweaking my standing posture, hip position, and toe direction before the mirror. The pose in Photo 3 with one hand on the hip and legs crossed feels like the most balanced of the set, highlighting the waist-cinching effect without making the skirt look bulky.

Speaking of character design in Zenless Zone Zero, Ellen Joe's shark motif is truly a masterstroke. Even without the tail this time, the serrated tooth design on the headpiece and the jagged white patchwork on the skirt hem retain strong visual punch. The classic combination of black and white, accented by touches of red, creates an unexpectedly sharp look in a dimmer indoor setting.

Managing such an elaborate costume entirely on one's own takes time. From putting on the wig and arranging the headpiece to adjusting the petticoat crinoline and tying shoe laces, it took nearly an hour. Putting on the shoes, the red-trimmed sole design was quite fun—standing or tilting slightly on tiptoes reveals the red sole peeking out from the black edges, adding a subtle touch of mystery to the monochrome palette.

Often people only see the finished cosplay photos, but the hectic trial-and-error process along the way is also part of the fun. Without the full tail, it feels more like a conventional Maid outfit showcase. The skirt material carries some thickness, so standing for long periods makes the core a bit tired from maintaining an engaged posture to align with the rigid corset and prevent it from shifting upward.

Nevertheless, being able to wear this outfit to achieve the desired effect brings immense joy. Embodying Ellen Joe, using wardrobe and props to get closer to the character, and pulling off this sporty, Mechanical style cosplay maid look is deeply rewarding. Rather than forcing trendy photoshoot poses, I personally enjoy recording this natural silhouette under the default camera, capturing the character through my own eyes.

The silhouette of this dress made it well worth a dedicated log. Even if it is out of stock now, fellow fans planning to cosplay this character later might consider this type of structured petticoat volume. I believe a stiff-textured crinoline is far superior to a flimsy one for supporting the skirt's shape. Meanwhile, the Black tights outfit on the legs is essential, visually bridging the white mini skirt and black shoes to enhance the layered depth of the overall look.

That wraps up today's daily log. Prepping gear, refining angles, and staying focused embody the core joy of cosplay. This indoor version without the tail was certainly a unique and rewarding attempt.
