I have so much to say about this Shiki Natsume Maid outfit from Café Stella and the Reapers' Butterflies. The fidelity is remarkable: the deep navy long-sleeved dress paired with a white ruffled apron and signature yellow bow tie creates crisp visual layering. Under soft lighting, the fabric's subtle sheen looks refined, and the ruffles drape beautifully. Adding that pop of bright yellow to the navy-and-white palette gives the ensemble striking presence.
The most unforgettable secret of the shoot was the black thigh band—nobody would ever guess it was fashioned on-site using adhesive tape! To recreate the character's strap aesthetic, we tried soft elastic bands that kept slipping, followed by matte rubber bands that clashed with the outfit's texture. The photographer suggested tape as an experiment, which fit snugly, offered the right semi-gloss sheen, and indented the White stockings with a flattering, stable curve.
We coordinated to highlight Natsume's gap charm: her aloof, earnest personality contrasting against a gentle Maid outfit. Against a pure white backdrop, the dark dress and white apron popped cleanly with minimal shadows. Poses like lifting the skirt hem, resting my chin on my hand while seated, and turning around with a tray captured the essence of her character. While holding seated and kneeling poses in thick-soled shoes and over-the-knee socks tested endurance, the photographer patiently guided eye contact and hand lines. The resulting textures and expressions made this cosplay shoot deeply rewarding.
