Just for this character's pink and white hair strands, it took several rounds of styling adjustments to achieve that light, dreamy feeling without looking heavy or oppressive. The slight curl at the tips of the hair and the arc of that ahoge on top of the head were all designed to complement the overall cool and detached temperament.
Speaking of this shoot, I have to mention that line from the original post, "Kuro Games, give me back my daughter!" This was actually a heartfelt "complaint" after getting deeply emotionally invested in the character's storyline. Every time I immerse myself in the world of Wuthering Waves and form bonds with these flesh-and-blood characters, it's hard not to have the illusion of wanting to claim them as my own. Therefore, choosing white studio photography this time was also a hope to completely release that trait of being otherworldly yet carrying a touch of gentleness and fortitude within the character through the pure background.
In terms of costume matching, the pure white dress combined with the black bowtie and golden trim visually elongated the proportions, making the character look more like a three-dimensional sci-fi design. The long white gloves worn on the arms were a vital element in the shoot. To prevent slipping and highlight the texture, I specially chose a matte leather material. Paired with the cyan ring patterns on the arms, a lot of thought indeed went into it. During the shoot, the V-sign hand gesture and the face-cradling pose were all aimed at emphasizing the character's slightly playful yet elegant personality.
I chose the second picture as the cover this time because that selfie perspective is a moment I really love. At that time, the fan in the studio was blowing, causing the entire long pink hair to scatter to the right, giving a vibrant sensation of being embraced by the wind. In the phone lens, the translucent white shadows of flying birds adorned the side, which was a touch of atmospheric airiness specially added in post-processing to match the white studio environment so the frame wouldn't look too flat. To be honest, I took hundreds of photos that day, but this snapshot captured the most relaxed expression perfectly. I feel that this is the most touching moment for a character.
Regarding the studio layout, white studio photography actually places severe demands on the cleanliness of the outfit, makeup, and props. Because there is no distraction in the background, any stray hair strand or wrinkled clothing corner will be exposed completely under the lens. Therefore, before every change of pose, the assistant had to help me carefully adjust the folds of the gloves and ensure that my facial makeup still remained three-dimensional under the high-brightness LED lights from the ceiling. A lot of diffusion equipment was used that day so that the face didn't look pale white but carried a translucent, breathing quality. Only this kind of professional lighting handling can truly recreate that soft and holy skin tone from the original art.
Many friends ask me why I prefer studio shoots over location shoots. It's because the charm of studio shooting lies in how it brings you into a fully immersive state of creation. In a pure white space, a person's focus is solely the relationship between oneself and the lens; you can better grasp the character's emotions and perfect the expression of every tiny piece of body language. Being able to pull off this character this time was also because my understanding of her became deeper—it's not just about putting on the clothes and wearing the wig, but finding that sense of soul alignment.
