Shooting the 'River and Sky of One Hue' theme for Wuthering Waves Suisui this time offered a truly mesmerizing visual concept. The costume fuses traditional qipao tailoring with the breezy elegance of Xianxia fantasy, crafted from white satin featuring a pearlescent sheen, accented by black lace paneling and gold embroidery that provides an incredible amount of detail. To faithfully embody the character's traits, the upper section incorporates a deep V-neckline alongside a high-slit cut. When walking or seated, the gradient gossamer tulle along the hem drapes fluidly to form rich, layered tiers.
For the wig, I selected long wavy hair in pale platinum, paired with elf ears and hair accessories adorned with red tassels to elevate the character's spirited grace. The makeup emphasized deep, sculpted eye contours while keeping the base clean and translucent to channel her cool detachment tinged with subtle enchantment.
The real test during the shoot was balancing poise and elegance while accentuating the alluring elements of the ensemble. For example, sitting on a high barstool with legs crossed and angled slightly forward utilized lens perspective to lengthen the leg lines, while the glossy black sheen and red soles of the high heels formed a vivid color contrast against the white Stockings. When standing, I shifted my weight onto one leg while bending the other slightly to let the skirt fan out organically. The translucent folding fan prop adorned with gold landscape patterns not only resonated with the river-and-sky aesthetic, but also provided an excellent focal point and tactile anchor for various poses.
To capture the featherlight delicacy of the outfit, the photographer employed soft top-lighting and side backlighting, granting the white silk and sheer gauze sleeves a luminous, semi-translucent texture. Before the lens, I had to keep my shoulders relaxed while engaging my core to control angles of tilt. Though the fabric is light and delicate, I took special care during studio takes to smooth out the skirt drape and sheer shoulder sleeves, preventing awkward creases. Between frames, touch-ups and wig adjustments were frequent to ensure every final photo reached its peak aesthetic.
While the prop fan was fashioned from translucent acrylic, holding it for hours still placed strain on the wrist. Thus, when transitioning between postures, I sought out different ways to hold it—sometimes gripping lightly, sometimes leveling it flat—to keep arm contours stretched and fluid. Overall, the styling, makeup, and studio setup harmonized beautifully; the light sculpted across the satin and gradient tulle created a fluid, liquid texture, seamlessly marrying the character's distinctive aura with my own interpretation in this Anime cosplay.
