Putting on this Cartethyia cosplay outfit from Wuthering Waves immediately made the overall visual silhouette clear. Ever since deciding to portray this character, I had been brainstorming how to translate her cool yet light in-game feel into physical makeup and styling.
Starting with the headpiece and wig: the golden wig was specially trimmed according to character traits, with bang length set just right to reveal light blue eyes. When wearing pointed elf ear style accessories, I reinforced the base of the ears, as subsequent styling required frequent head turns and attaching headpieces. The blue crown resembling ice crystal growth, along with blue side ornaments, were made from 3D materials, so adjusting angles during wear was crucial to achieve that translucent refraction texture under sunlight.
Regarding makeup, to align with character settings, eye makeup stayed on the lighter side, with deep blue contact lenses sharpening the gaze. Facial mask patterns were actually drawn using fine brushes, looking very natural from a distance without appearing jarring up close. Base makeup used a dry setting powder because the high collar rests close to the neck, where sweating could smudge the leather portions of the garment, making skin freshness key.
Let's talk about the layering of this Cosplay outfit. A black leather choker with a metal pendant at the neck introduced a touch of neutral cool. White fabric strips running from chest to waist form the soul of the outfit; this semi-translucent shiny fabric reflects a faint blue glow under natural light. The skirt section features dark gray and black paneling bordered with white totem embroidery, cut to fit the silhouette closely without losing shape when sitting or standing. Pink semi-sheer arm sleeves and blue arm rings are lightweight, fluttering with an airy feel when moving rather than feeling heavy.
As for props, the handmade plush doll I held recreated the character's chibi image with high Character accuracy. The hood, blue-green bangs, tiny dress, and blue-green streamers on the plush served as lively visual elements during the shoot. Fabric selection and stuffing fullness were adjusted multiple times during crafting to ensure it looked soft and cute in hand.
This photo set was shot indoors near a window to leverage abundant soft natural light. Backlighting highlighted fabric drape and transparency, while side lighting brought out skin texture and accessory highlights. Figure 4 shows a full-length mirror selfie—a casual yet complete perspective showcasing body proportions. Wearing a skirt with high skin exposure tests skirt waist and shoulder strap stability; I tightened shoulder strap buckles slightly to prevent garment edges from shifting during movement.
As for footwear, flat sandals with clear straps exposed the foot surface completely, complemented by delicate ankle chains. While some might consider this minimalist, pairing bare feet with clear sandals actually enhances the airy, ethereal aesthetic best.
To showcase varied angles and dynamics throughout the shoot, I tried sitting, standing, and interacting with the plush doll. Sitting on the floor allowed the skirt hem to spread gracefully, combining with falling blue streamers for rich visual layering. The most enjoyable part of cosplay is watching flat concept art transform step by step into 3D reality. From clothing, wigs, and accessories to makeup and expression, I strive for maximum Character accuracy. This recreation journey is also a continuous exploration of my own style as a coser.
