[Sigrika cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Zhongshan Anime Exhibition AS29 Hall Photo Sharing

Shooting Sigrika cosplay from Wuthering Waves at the Zhongshan Anime Exhibition AS29 was an experience where most of our energy went into adjusting the costume and poses. The purple strappy sandals and leg rings were quite tricky to put on and required repeated adjustments of tension; otherwise, larger movements would easily compromise the overall look.

To ensure smooth leg lines on camera, many poses had to be tested iteratively. For instance, crossing legs on a black folding stool or extending legs straight out on a white blanket tested thigh muscle control, yet also highlighted the figure best in this styling. Regarding posing, when lifting a leg, I gently held down the side fabric with my fingertips to keep the skirt in place. When crouching, to prevent straps from digging unnaturally into the inner thighs, I leaned toward extending the leg outward to avoid unwanted pinching.

The convention hall was noisy with many passersby in the background, so we intentionally chose a relatively open corner. Photographer NightDiva used cool-toned ambient light paired with key speedlights to darken the background, isolating the foreground subject for rich texture and dynamic visual punch. The white mechanical eye doll prop was actually quite heavy; to make it blend naturally, we tested holding it, raising it overhead, and resting it beside the knees.

The shoot lasted several hours. Due to the high-heeled sandals and leg accessories, the soles and calves definitely ached, so I used nearby stools and equipment cases for support. During standing poses, ground reflections helped brighten skin radiance, while careful angle adjustments prevented large specular glare from the purple reflective fabrics.

With the heavy foot traffic at the convention, having bystanders in the frame was inevitable, but post-processing cleaned up the background nicely. Even though the weather was muggy and wearing this gear caused quite a bit of sweating, presenting the graceful lines of this styling against a cool blue background made all the effort worthwhile.

This shoot thoroughly showcased the white tassels, purple skirt hem, and legwear details, especially the leg ring visible in seated poses. Adjusting camera angles around on-site lighting—such as using small stools and white carpets as props to direct visual flow—successfully highlighted the authentic texture of the character.

Lastly, our convention schedule was tightly packed. To avoid the afternoon peak crowds, we arrived early for setup. Fortunately, having complete lighting gear—several reflectors and softboxes—kept facial lighting soft and flattering. The fabric was lightweight yet adorned with many accessories, requiring care when walking to avoid tripping over the hem. After multiple adjustments, the final selections favored clean compositions, thanks to the photographer's precise mastery of perspective that cut through the busy venue.

Another demanding pose was crossing legs on a tall bar stool; because the seat was narrow, engaging the core and stepping firmly on the footrest was necessary to balance without slipping, all while checking that leg lines weren't awkwardly compressed. Pre-shoot makeup and styling took nearly two hours, mainly due to securing the wig and positioning hair ornaments correctly, but the outcome was great. Overall, it was a deeply fulfilling shoot where every motion was refined with care, reflecting natural ease and my genuine presence in this 2D Cosplay photography work.
