[Eternity Larva Cosplay] Springtime Garden Expo Park: A Butterfly Fairy's Wandering

Choosing to shoot this Eternity Larva cosplay photo set in the flower sea at Garden Expo Park brought a sense of natural light transparency that carries far more vitality than studio photography. It happened to be a breezy April day in full spring, and paired with vast patches of pink and orange-red blossoms, the overall frame was mastered by photographer @Maoyouyanbingshi with a wonderfully rustic and romantic tone.

Let's first dive into the details of this styling. The light blue short wig was trimmed quite crisply, with the arc of the bangs offering great framing for my facial contours. The hair accessories were intricate: beyond basic lace and white silk flowers, a translucent blue butterfly was specially crafted to rest beside my eye, complemented by two soft yellow antenna-like ornaments atop my head that aligned closely with her butterfly fairy design. The costume fabric utilized a combination of lightweight tulle, cotton-linen, and glossy water-resistant material; chest straps and silver chains enhanced visual layering, while pearl beading around the waist gave the outfit rich refraction qualities under outdoor sunlight. Most striking was the large butterfly wing fabric stitched to both sides of the skirt hem—featuring vibrant orange-red with black-and-white patterned patches—and the circular hand fan matching the same pattern, which truly created a fluttering posture while walking through the flower beds.

The photographer paid close attention to the relationship between subject and environment when composing shots. Since the outfit's skin exposure was moderate, the photographer opted for mid-closeups and medium shots to highlight the sheer tulle collar and neck-shoulder lines. Natural light shifted constantly on the day of the shoot; especially as dusk approached in the late afternoon, sunlight diffused softly through cloud layers, imparting an innate warm golden hue to the raw images. To match Eternity Larva's Tokoyo no Kami identity, we specially captured dynamic moments of the skirt swaying among flowers—the tulle floating in the breeze alongside butterfly motifs created a genuine impression of a forest nymph awakening in spring.

During shooting, the biggest challenge was the dense vegetation in Garden Expo Park's flower field, where branches and leaves easily snagged on arm bracelets and delicate tulle fabric. We had to adjust our angles with extreme care at nearly every step to avoid damaging accessories. To dodge harsh shadows cast by direct sunlight, we shifted locations multiple times, eventually finding ideal lighting beside wooden trellises near flower beds and along central flower paths. Though outdoor location shoots present many inconveniences, the final depth and layering achieved are simply inimitable by single-background indoor sets.

Characters in the Touhou Project series possess imaginative, whimsical lore; this costume centered around the butterfly motif inherently carries an ethereal aura. Throughout the shoot, I continuously immersed myself in the character's traits—her movements light and fluid, her gaze intelligent yet mysterious. To recreate this feeling, I designed subtle details in my expressions and finger placements, such as slightly tilting my head upward and gently resting my fingertips against my chest.

This photo set stands as a deeply satisfying outdoor attempt for me this spring season. Being able to bring a beloved character into genuine natural scenery while flowers bloom at their peak is a truly healing experience.
