Deciding to do a Venti cosplay from Genshin Impact took quite a lot of thought and effort, from preparing props to the actual shoot. The outdoor lighting at the convention was very special, which complemented this white-and-green costume perfectly, making the whole shoot a wonderful experience.
For the cosplay outfit, to recreate that light and free feeling of the character, I chose an outer cape made of semi-transparent sheer fabric. The hair accessories were very delicate. The dark blue-to-black wig was styled with voluminous fluff and braided into two pigtails with teal-green highlights, perfectly balancing Venti's youthful charm and graceful vibe. Of course, the makeup focused on the bright green contact lenses paired with natural eye contours, aiming to bring out the character's carefree and lively spirit through the eyes.
As for photography props, I mainly prepared two items. One was the silver flute, which not only enriched the character's persona during play, but also served as a static pose prop where raising both hands with the flute highlighted the puffy sleeves of the costume. The other was a cyan semi-transparent glowing crystal prop with a strong luminous effect. In an open outdoor venue, holding this prop created a focal point that, combined with my open arms and forward-stretched hands, added dynamic tension to the overall posture.
Personally, I really love the third candid shot of playing the flute—closing my eyes and being immersed in my own world fits the Anemo Archon's carefree nature of enjoying music and the breeze. For the hand expressions in the other two photos, I intentionally adjusted the extension of my fingers to keep the poses fluid. Paired with the white high-heeled sandals, the white stockings enhanced the long, slender line of my legs in standing poses. Although walking around outside the venue all day in high heels left my feet a bit sore, seeing the photos from the playback made it all feel completely worth it.
We faced quite a challenge during the outdoor shoot because it was windy that day. Since the character himself carries the "Anemo" element, when the wind blew my hair and cape, it created a great atmosphere, though it required a very fast shutter speed. The photographer held a flash unit nearby to control the light while I constantly adjusted my stance and body angle according to the wind direction to ensure that the texture of the fabric and hairpiece details remained clear even in backlit or side-backlit conditions. For instance, the large golden badge with a teal-blue gem on my chest would look ordinary if shaded, so we used reflectors and artificial light sources to illuminate it and recreate its metallic texture.
In addition, the small bells hanging at the ankles were another detail I loved. The unique way they were worn and their color, paired with the white high-heeled sandals, prevented the overall look from feeling plain, adding a touch of exquisite elegance instead. Personally, I think this fresh, clean, yet slightly wild and natural boyish styling is incredibly charming. Being able to catch a break when the weather cleared up to complete this Genshin Impact Venti cosplay photoshoot felt like fulfilling a small dream before the end of this convention season. The combination of makeup, costume, props, and fluid movement in front of the camera allowed these photos to look natural without being overly exaggerated, while retaining the character's unique charm. I hope the feeling of ease and freedom captured in those photos reaches everyone watching behind the screen.
