Sunlight pours over the red brick wall and white-painted wooden door, just capturing the cozy moment of soaking up the sun with Phoebe. This set of Wuthering Waves Phoebe Cosplay real shoots chose outdoor steps as the scene, with no particularly complex layout, relying on natural light and shadow and the texture of the costume itself, attempting to restore the soft and focused scholar temperament of the character.
Let's first talk about the design details of this attire. The white wide-brimmed hat used stiff material to support the contour, and the black ribbon on the edge with the blue cross decoration on top are the crowning touches. The golden-white long wig adopted a relatively straight and layered cut, and after clipping on the iconic blue cross hairpins, the overall color tone brightened up immediately. The top is a sister-style base layer interwoven with blue, white, black, and gold, where the black patched section of the neckline is paired with a white inner lining and refined cross choker decoration. The irregular draping blue tassels and interconnected gold chains on the chest add color layering to the pure white primary color tone. The cuffs feature a black base with gold borders in a thickened, tightened design, paired with black gloves, appearing mysterious yet crisp.
To match the character setting, two core props were prepared this time. One is a magic book with a blue cover, where the book cover features an imitation leather texture, and the golden border patterns reflect light very well under the sun; the other is a black long staff that I used when shooting Figure 2, with a silver-white flying bird shape on top and a metallic texture on the shaft. When shooting this set of photos, the outdoor sunlight was actually very intense; this kind of bright sunny day's direct light makes shadows very harsh. To prevent abrupt highlight patches from appearing on the face, when shooting from a front or low-angle perspective, I would deliberately utilize the hat brim and hand movements to cut the light, creating soft shadow areas for this Cosplay photography session.
Let's talk about my personal favorite pose in Figure 3. Sitting on the steps, legs naturally stretching forward, with the heels of the white tall boots lightly touching the ground; this posture can perfectly showcase the texture of the pure white opaque tights for this elegant White thigh-highs outfit display. The blue-and-gold interwoven bowknots and shoe-surface stitching on the white boots, cooperating with the lace edge of the skirt hem, beautifully elongate the lower body's visual effect. Holding the magic book in hand on my thighs, while the other hand is slightly raised to touch the hat brim, making the movement look both relaxed and character-authentic. This composition also takes into account the line guidance of the large door and brick wall, framing the person steadily right in the center of the frame, so the visual emphasis naturally falls on the person's face, legs, and props.
Actually, when many people take an Outdoor portrait of such a wide-brimmed hat character, they worry that the hat brim will block the eyes or the lighting will shoot out looking too flat. This time I used some back-lighting and side-backlighting tricks to give the golden hair strands a ring of edge light on top of the head, and then by adjusting the camera position's high and low tilting angles, bypassed the cluttered shadows brought by the architecture. That slight high-angle shot in Figure 4 just lowered the character's center of gravity; the sitting posture paired with a book looks like a leisurely moment reading classic texts in front of the porch.
When sorting out the post-processing of this set of diagrams, I preserved the rough texture of the brick wall and the graininess of the real scene from the original image, without deliberately over-smoothing the skin, only adjusting the contrast and color tendency to make the blue and white palette appear clearer and more transparent against the backdrop of the warm sun halo. The placement of props, the folds of the skirt hem, and the fit of the gloves—these minor details all need to be repeatedly adjusted the second before pressing the shutter. I hope this record under light and shadow allows everyone to feel the pure joy of role-playing itself.
