Falling in love with the second form fox at first sight, I immediately set to work arranging this costume. From selecting fabrics to receiving the finished garments, the entire process was filled with anticipation. The details of this outfit were even richer than I had expected; the golden patterns on the inner base weren't ordinary prints, but rather textured fabrics with a three-dimensional embossed feel that offered a fantastic fit. The sheer outer puff sleeves had just the right amount of structure, and the pleated dark blue-grey layer at the cuffs shifted beautifully under changing light during movement. The metallic vine embellishments and ruby accents on the chest had substantial weight yet remained securely fastened, which, alongside the pocket-watch pendant, gave the overall visual center of gravity great stability.
The hair and makeup took a solid four hours. To keep the long platinum-blonde wavy wig voluminous, root support prep began the night before, and once put on, an ample amount of hairspray was needed to tame stray strands along the edges. The animal ears were the centerpiece of this Kemonomimi cosplay; I reinforced the bottom metal frame atop the existing plush base so the ears would stand firmly on the head. The red gems and golden patterns caught the convention lighting wonderfully, looking gorgeous on camera. For the eye makeup, reddish-brown eyeshadow was generously blended, paired with light-colored contacts and a red mark on the forehead to lean into a sharp, mysterious aesthetic. The star tattoo on the side of my neck was drawn with a single stroke of waterproof liquid eyeliner; to keep from smudging it, I held my chin up almost the entire time while dressing.
Arriving at the Phantom Sakura Comic Convention venue, the weather was actually rather muggy, and foot traffic inside was immense. Although this Anime cosplay outfit is off-the-shoulder, it has many layers, and combined with the wig and massive animal ears, my perceived body temperature shot up instantly. Once stepping into the photo area, however, my focus locked right in. The photographer guided me into a cheek-resting pose—right index finger lightly touching the lower lip, with a distant, vacant gaze toward the camera. This pose effectively balanced the proportions of the ears while sculpting facial contours cleanly under the lights. The dark grey and light blue fabrics projected a cool-toned texture on camera, accented by gold accessories that gave the frame powerful tension.
I met many fellow fans at the convention who recognized the character, and everyone was very sweet about coming over for shared photos. Because the outfit features numerous sleeves and accessories, the shoulder tulle and pocket-watch pendant had to be smoothed out before each shot to prevent wardrobe slips. Although exhausting, all the fatigue vanished the moment I saw the preview shots. Outdoor lighting differs completely from indoor convention hall lighting; overhead venue lights tend to overexpose the white fur of the ears, which required continuous micro-adjustments to shooting angles, utilizing side rim-light to accentuate facial depth and the metallic luster of the garments.
Cosplaying this second form fox gave me plenty of practical experience from prop prep to final execution—like how to preserve texture on plush props under harsh lighting, and how to stabilize multi-accessory costumes during movement. Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable experience where the outfit's quality and makeup harmony completely met my expectations. Later on, I might look into a cooler studio setting to shoot another atmospheric set, capturing all the garment details that couldn't be fully displayed this time around.
