This Mitsuri Kanroji cosplay photoset chose an outdoor ancient-style waterside scene as the background, striving to recreate the character's gentle yet powerful qualities.

Let's first talk about the highlights of this look. The pink and light green gradient wig is the foundation of the entire outfit. The wig was given a fluffy treatment, combined with the stylist's specific braiding, making the top and braids look very full. The butterfly hair accessories worn on the head were also carefully selected, with matching colored tassels added as embellishments. For the eye makeup, light green contact lenses were used, and the lower eyelids were adorned with scattered glitters and subtle patterns, attempting to capture her piercing and intense gaze in front of the camera.

The costume features a modified ancient-style tulle dress. The outer layer is made of a lightweight, sheer material, allowing the inner shirt with pink floral embroidery to show through. The wide flowing sleeves and layered skirt display a beautiful sense of fluidity under the gentle breeze and sunlight. The outer fabric has a subtle pearlescent sheen. During the shoot, the sunlight hitting from the side created beautiful highlights on the edges and folds of the clothes, adding a rich depth to the fabric's texture.

The prop is a completely handmade flower umbrella. The canopy is covered with white and light pink silk flowers, with long vines and bouquets hanging beneath the ribs, which can be called the soul of this entire photoset. When shooting with this umbrella, one must carefully choose the angle so that it doesn't block the light on the character's face while fully showcasing the layered texture of the flower vines.

The shooting environment and lighting control were equally crucial. The location was a garden featuring a Chinese-style wooden bridge and waterscape, where the natural light reflected from the water surface served as excellent fill light for darker areas. The first photo experimented with a half-squatting posture by the stone railing, with a slightly high-angle shot, blending the character, flower umbrella, and shimmering water together. The second photo shows sitting on a low wall by the water, with hands naturally resting on the umbrella handle, presenting a relatively relaxed expression. During the shoot, I had the photographer use a large-aperture lens as much as possible to blur out the background wooden bridge and green leaves, thereby highlighting the main character in front and making the colors cleaner.

In terms of post-processing, the focus was placed on the delicate retouching of the character's face and skin texture, while slightly adjusting the overall ambient tones to create a soft contrast between pinkish-white and pale cyan, hoping to match the softness associated with the "nectar" and "honey" in the character's name (Kanroji Mitsuri). A lot of thought went into the pre-production and on-site shooting of this entire photoset, especially the securing of the wig and hair accessories, as well as capturing the dynamic movement of the skirt, all of which required seamless coordination between the photographer and the model.

Honestly, moving around while holding this flower umbrella in full makeup and costume was no easy feat; the weight of the umbrella itself and the drooping flower vines required constant balance, and during the shoot, one had to balance expansive poses with the stability of the prop. Additionally, the tulle skirt was easily messed up by the wind outdoors, so snapshots often had to be repeated many times to get a picture with a natural form. This is also a challenge that must be overcome to complete high-quality cosplay photosets. Through this shoot, I also gained some new experience in outdoor ancient-style location lighting and composition.

Seeing her come to life in this fantasy world through the lens is indeed a very fulfilling thing. The design of this makeup, costume, and props is very strong. If there are suitable scenes in the future, I might also try some reshoots in different styles to see what kind of chemistry can be created.
