Cosplaying Salter at this anime convention, I spent the prior two days figuring out how to convey the character's haughty, detached demeanor. The photographer arrived early and scouted a corner with great lighting—a dark-toned backdrop paired with an overhead spotlight that cleanly carved the subject out from the chaotic background crowds. During shooting, I constantly controlled my facial muscles: looking slightly downward with relaxed, unsmiling lips. Maintaining that icy detachment is surprisingly exhausting for facial expressions. The seated pose in the third photo was a spontaneous change of plan; originally planned as a standing pose with the sword, sitting on a high stool resting my hands on the hilt with legs crossed turned out to project far more imposing pressure and presence than standing. To flatter the leg lines, I switched to black stiletto heels paired with the pleated black skirt, effectively elongating the lower body proportions for a much sharper visual result than a standing shot.

I must emphasize the sword's weight—it was way heavier than expected. Holding the hilt one-handed to swing or rest it against the floor demanded substantial arm and core strength to stabilize the posture; any slight relaxation would cause the sword tip to wobble and blur the shot. The convention floor was packed with heavy foot traffic, and ambient chatter alongside erratic lighting heightened shooting difficulty. To frame out the crowds, the photographer went all out, laying flat on the ground or climbing onto stools to find low angles.

For makeup, to suit Salter's cool, alluring style, I went with a pale base, deepened the eyes with dark red tones, and applied classic red lipstick. The wig was the canon silver-white style; silver wigs can easily absorb light in dim environments and flatten facial dimensions, so the photographer added subtle fill light to my face to bring out the three-dimensional depth seen in the final frames. The only regret was forgetting my gloves. Rushing out the door, I only realized in the car that I'd left them at home, and my heart sank. Since going back wasn't an option, I hurriedly ordered a food-delivery errand for a makeshift pair of lace fingerless gloves. Though the color matched, the texture differed quite a bit from the canon look and wasn't entirely screen-accurate—apologies to everyone for dragging things down with this bit of OOC. Minor regrets aside, the overall atmosphere came together nicely: the dark blue dress paired with the red-and-black sword and cool gaze delivered the intended visual punch. The photographer worked tirelessly, hauling heavy gear through summer heat and dense crowds to find angles. All in all, it was a super fun experience; despite the hiccup, seeing these final photos made those exhausting hours completely worthwhile.
