This El Nahash battle attire for Yuzuru Yamai has finally materialized into reality. As one of the most recognizable designs in Date A Live, constructing this costume demanded immense dedication. The core structure combines deep navy and violet faux-leather textiles, accented with iconic white sawtooth serrations spanning the bodice, waistline, and boot covers. To faithfully reproduce the original design, the hexagonal belt buckle and metallic ankle cuffs were finely polished. The most intricate hurdle lay in managing the metallic chains wrapped across the body: they had to be detangled and smoothed before every take, with their trajectory deliberately choreographed inside the frame to embody El Nahash without devolving into visual chaos.

Styling the wig was equally paramount. The vibrant orange locks feature a side braid paired with a high ponytail, requiring a natural gradient luster under studio strobes. Azure contact lenses and cool-toned eye makeup captured her poised, slightly aloof, and tsundere demeanor. While often perceived as a robotic deadpan character, Yuzuru inherently carries a calm, captivating depth.

Shooting alongside photographers Aqi and Xingyou went exceptionally smoothly. A pure blue cyclorama Studio shoot heavily tests subject presence, as lacking physical environments means all tension must be projected through body language alone. In the first pose, I raised the chains aloft while holding the gray geometric block prop in the other hand—a stance testing shoulder and core endurance, yet holding firm was necessary to achieve that clean, vertical chain drape. The second setup framed a medium close-up, extending the cube forward with an accompanying gesture, demanding controlled facial poise under direct camera scrutiny.

The third setup featured sitting atop a white cylindrical pedestal with legs crossed, placing a finger to my lips in a hushed gesture—framing that accentuated sleek leg lines and the glove-like contour of the boots. The over-the-knee heeled boots strapped with thigh harnesses made walking and balancing tricky, especially while wielding heavy chains, but the resulting proof radiated a sharp, sensual power. The cape cascaded naturally down the back, adding dynamic flow.

As a cosplayer who frequently tackles varied aesthetics, the standout brilliance of Yuzuru's battle suit lies in its asymmetry and restraint motifs. The exposed midriff skin contrasts starkly against the cold metallic chains and dark leather. Blue key strobes hitting fair skin and leather created rich, specular textures. From garment fitting and prop repairs to real-time chain adjustments avoiding facial shadows, through to balancing metal sheens in post-production, every step was demanding. Seeing the final series made every second worthwhile—relying on tangible sartorial craftsmanship and refined studio lighting to anchor the character's presence without heavy CGI reliance.
