Becoming smaller after taking a rejuvenation potion—this concept is inherently packed with gap-moe charm. As a Blue Archive player, I had always been eagerly anticipating the Chinese server release of Shun (Small), so taking advantage of the great weather, I finally completed this Sunohara Shun cosplay in her small form.
Preparing for this shoot involved a lot of detailed replication work. First is this black-and-white trimmed modified dress, featuring highly recognizable green collar accents. The garment's tailoring fits the character design closely, retaining classic cheongsam elements while incorporating modern styling. To match Shun (Small)'s petite stature, the lower body was styled with White tights cosplay paired with chunky black Mary Jane platform shoes, which visually elongated proportions in an adorable way. Given the character's feline traits, the black cat ear headpiece and black bows on both sides had to be carefully anchored to ensure they wouldn't easily fall off while running and jumping outdoors.
For hair and makeup, the focus was placed squarely on the eyes and hairstyle. Wearing bright green contact lenses immediately gave the gaze that lively, cat-like expression. The long, straight black wig took a long time to groom, especially the side locks and bangs, which needed a very clean, blunt cut to capture the character's signature kuudere and slightly dorky innocence. Accented with red lipstick, my overall complexion and presence were noticeably elevated.
When it comes to the centerpiece of this shoot, it was definitely the complex array of props. The oversized backpack with white floral motifs is the character's iconic element; although carrying it had substantial weight, the sound of the bag bumping along while walking through the park made for a comical and fun experience. The prop rifle model was also custom-made with care, featuring a black body with white detailing for solid texture and fidelity. What pleased me most was the blue holographic butterfly effect, which not only accented the composition, but also greatly enhanced the sci-fi Anime cosplay atmosphere. The small green charm on my hand was another subtle detail that highlighted a lively, youthful charm as I gestured.
The shooting location was in the playground area of a park, where green play equipment and lush surrounding trees provided a fresh, vibrant color backdrop. Photographer @dj君 was exceptional at capturing these dynamic, agile moments. We crouched and stood by the swing sets, holding the rifle or slinging the backpack, capturing several satisfying compositions. For example, the shot crouching by the pillar or hoisting the sniper rifle preserved the weapon's coolness while blending seamlessly into the relaxed playground atmosphere. With abundant sunlight on shooting day, the lighting treatment made the white stockings look even more translucent, giving the whole photoshoot a clean, lifestyle texture.
Exploring this Shun (Small) form gave me a deeper appreciation of the character's charm. Both the large backpack and tactical firearm are integral parts of her story. Running around carrying heavy props was tiring, but bringing out the contrast between cool detachment and childish innocence made all the effort worthwhile. This rejuvenation project concluded successfully, and I hope fellow players enjoy this cosplay while eagerly awaiting the surprises Shun (Small) brings to Blue Archive.
