The design language of this Honkai: Star Rail Herta cosplay costume is exceptionally distinct; the wide-brimmed purple hat paired with black-and-white garments forms a striking visual anchor. In preparing this Cosplay outfit, I devoted significant effort to recreating the intricate details of every component, as this costume is not merely a simple dress, but a three-dimensional ensemble crafted from complex layers, patchwork, and hardware fittings.
Starting from the head, the massive purple witch hat is the true soul of the entire look. The wide brim is adorned with geometric pattern textures, while the side bow adds a touch of softness to an otherwise sharp silhouette. To match Herta's tsundere and aloof aura, I selected a Silver hair wig with subtle gradient highlights; trimming the layers of the bangs was crucial, ensuring my face shape looked petite and delicate in photos. The eye makeup was also fine-tuned, using purple-toned eyeshadow to elongate the outer corners and pairing it with light purple contacts, accurately conveying that poised, haughty, yet elegant demeanor during the shoot. The studded black leather choker at the neck was another great accent, balancing the substantial visual weight of the hat while drawing visual focus to the face.
The black corset on the upper torso is the centerpiece of the whole Cosplay outfit. The cutout design on the chest relied on internal structural boning to prevent the neckline from collapsing, which, paired with silver-white metallic patterns, granted the upper body both armor-like structure and ornate decorative flair. The semi-sheer mesh panel spliced into the center of the corset visually segmented body proportions, while the cinched waist greatly accentuated silhouette curves. The voluminous sleeves were another time-consuming design: multiple layers of white ruffles were stacked with delicate lace stitching along the hems. Although these wide sleeves tend to catch on things during movement, once fully put on and with arms raised, that natural flowing drape under gravity provides a breathtaking elegance that standard fabrics simply cannot replicate.
The skirt on the lower half was crafted with equal care, utilizing multi-fabric patchwork techniques. The white underskirt is paired with light purple pleated ruffles and overlaid with a dark blue wrap, forming a harmonious color transition from light to dark. Meanwhile, the diagonal black leather straps and golden metal buckles broke the skirt's softness, injecting adventurer and rogue elements to make the character appear both intellectually wise like a mage and sharp like a seasoned combatant.
To capture this set well, I adjusted the mirror and indoor lighting multiple times. The phone case pattern happened to blend seamlessly with the overall color scheme, which was a fun coincidence. I specifically adopted a close-up Anime style selfie perspective, as this framing highlighted every embroidery, cutout, and strap detail across the upper body. While posing, I also tried to project a confident, commanding presence tailored to the cut of the garment. While Herta inherently possesses a powerful aura in Honkai: Star Rail, putting on this costume—with its premium textures, accessory glints, and overarching silhouette—deeply reinforced how exceptional character design grants cosplayers immense immersion. I'm thoroughly satisfied with the final Anime style selfie results, capturing Herta's unique temperament while the complex costume structure achieved outstanding depth and layering on camera, fully realizing the refined recreation I strived for.
