Standing amidst the bustling crowd at C101, my legs were aching after a full day, but holding the heavy loot in my hands brought a deep sense of satisfaction. The main goal of attending this Anime convention was the Azur Lane cosplay set; queuing up early in the morning and squeezing through booth after booth with the crowd, the fulfillment when finally holding the physical set was incredible—even more substantial than expected. Because my forwarded package hadn't arrived, I had no choice but to borrow an outfit from a friend on the spot for cosplay. It was a turquoise halter neck paired with black mesh splicing, accessorized with fluffy cat ears, a long black wig, colored contacts, and light makeup, which together delivered quite a striking visual impact for a 2D look. Although the sizing had minor discrepancies requiring safety pins, my friend noted that this cut had an unexpectedly breezy charm—especially in bright sunlight, where the mesh shadows cast rich layers across the skin.

The afternoon light was fantastic, with the sunset sitting right across the bridge, so we captured shots around the nearby lawn and corridors. The photographer was very meticulous, guiding me through various angles under strong backlighting while I turned slightly to best display the halter neckline and the flow of the skirt. I am usually rather stiff when posing, relying entirely on the photographer's verbal cues to adjust my center of gravity, but fortunately the wig curve framed my forehead nicely. When the skirt hem and sleeves fluttered in the breeze against the brick paving and architectural backdrop, it made capturing great shots effortless. In Photo 2—the close-up—adjusting the camera angle accentuated the slender halter lines, and combined with makeup details, even the catchlights in the eyes were captured beautifully. Photo 3 shows the raw, unedited preview on my friend's camera screen, already full of atmosphere; warm sunlight hit my face and costume, gilding the silhouette with a golden rim. Afterwards, we headed to a yakiniku restaurant to recharge, where platters of beef short plate and marinated steaks sizzled on the grill—the most timely reward for a body exhausted from a full day of walking. Toasting with glasses of iced plum wine and oolong tea, we chatted about funny convention moments and tempting merch while taking stock of our haul. Navigating the convention with friends, scrambling with gear, and feasting at a yakiniku spot is far more addictive than just buying merch alone. Although borrowed gear had slight fit issues, this unexpected swap gave me a tangible understanding of how garment silhouettes, fabric weight, and movement range influence on-camera expressiveness—a valuable learning experience. In short, though my legs were jelly by the end, snagging the coveted merch and getting satisfying photos from friends made it completely worth it.
